I went fishing there and i caught two in 45 minutes, obviously they were undersize so i let them go, but it was sooo cool.

When I was growing up in San Diego in the 70's, we'd visit my grandmother in PB. She'd send us down to the bay to catch halibut. Great to see them trying to restore the population.

If the spawning habitat or nursery ground for the halibut is desiccated why don’t they push more for habitat rehabilitation measures. Sure fish will go in, but will they contribute to the spawning biomass or just die? They lived in a controlled environment their whole life and now your dumping them all at once and expect them to survive.

I think a one month a year 3-fish daily keep regulation (no size restriction) would help recreational angling/tourism a great deal. Imagine catch & release angling ten to twenty 19-24" halibut in accessible shallow waters for the public to enjoy 11 months a year.

Now if anglers can follow the rules and release the short ones
@bb38663 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The also need to learn to release the ones 30 inches and over and let them breed. When I keep a Halibut from the surf it’s usually between 24 and 28 inches. Best eating size in my opinion.
