Myself, my wife and our two dogs absolutely loved going camping in our folding camper - happy days indeed. I am so pleased that your dogs seem to be enjoying the experience as well, as I know our dogs did as well. Sadly, my wife died of cancer 4 years ago and my dogs have passed on as well, but I will always cherish all the wonderful holidays that we had in our folding campers. A very worthwhile and highly recommended addition would be an awning to create more shade and also shelter from more inclement weather.

That water connection is for a submersible pump which drops into your water container, it should also have the electrical connections, 12 volt, which power the pump when you press the foot switch. Modern campers and caravans use a pressurised system controlled by the opening and closing of taps.

And you might as well get a spare pump.. their lifetime is measured in days
@phonotd
@phonotd 2 жыл бұрын
@@skuula from personal experience I have only ever had to replace one pump over many years of using caravan usage. These pumps require water to cool them and failure is most likely due to the water container running dry and subsequent overheating of the pump. This will be more of a problem with pressurised systems as sufficient pressure cannot be reached to turn the pump off automatically when the container becomes empty.

@@phonotd Okay, you got a very good one :) I run an RV rental agency, and for us, failing water pumps are a very frequent occurrence, both in Europe and in US vehicles. Last time I rented one myself, the water pump failed after a day (tank full).

The Aqua roll and water system can be sanitised simply by filling it with a large mixture of Milton (or similar) baby bottle sanitising fluid. Just give the container a good shake then pump it through the pipe work and down the plug hole! And, I see you’re hooked and will soon be off on your next adventure - I knew you would be! 👍😎 Happy camping. Big Rich

A couple of tips that might be useful. When installing and removing the bed support poles from underneath, go in bent over. Insert into base and then 'stand' using your shoulder to lift the extended bed and insert the upper end into the bed. Store these poles under the edge of the mattress at each end. Many a camping holiday has been ruined when these have been left behind! Support legs...a rechargeable drill will make this so so so much easier. Taking five, 20x20x2 pieces of wood and using these under the jockey wheel and legs will help if the site is at all soft. Once you get the electrics and gas sorted, running the fridge on electric for 24hr before leaving will make life much easier as absorption fridges take ages to get cold... plus you will need to ensure that it's completely level for it to work well. It's a lot of fun and you'll pick up so much from other campers, here and T'tinternet. Happy travels.

We had exactly the same camper until last year. Beds surprisingly comfy. I'm 6'1" and 18 stone and had the middle bed, a foam topper made a huge difference. I remember the awning being very useful but a pain the in the butt to put up. Only problem we had was the wife thought she had waterproofed the fabric roof but she hadn't done it properly and it rained in after a rainstorm. Other than than thought it was a really good piece of kit.

We used to go tenting and did enjoy that. Never invested in a camper of any sort. What ended our tent camping was two things, water wicking through the tent sides when it rained and then there was the time I was digging a ditch around the tent to deal with water flowing where we didn't want it. We could have gotten a tent with a fly covering to deal with the wicking issue but my wife decided our future camping would involve a room with a key. No setup and no weather worries. Definitely not the same in some ways but a lot easier. Never the less I hope you enjoy your camping experiences.A pop up is a good way to go. Definitely deals with the issues encountered when tenting.

The pump is activated by the tap using a microswitch or pressure regulator system.you turn the tap and Hey Presto! A slight dribble... Good luck.

The brake "thump" is in all likelihood the hydraulic damper in the Tow Hitch needs renewing - otherwise you'll completely burn the brakes out. The "bellows" behind the hitch on yours are compressed which means the damper is shot. Dampers available from the trailer company or on Ebay - have fun!

Had some amazing times at The Snowdon Inn some 18 years ago . Bill the old landlord was most helpful and kind when my world came undone during a summer when my marriage collapsed . Its amazing where good times come from during adversary.Strange to hear that name after so long.. I wish you both well in your camping adventures. The blue socket on the outside is for the submersible pump.I recommend a plug-in in 240v lamp and using the fridge on gas .The Camping and Caravanning Club have holiday sites(not club sites) cheap for members run by the district associations that's the clubs all over the UK. much cheaper than regular campsites but you'll need a toilet tent and and a chemical toilet.

8:37 yep thats your power supply to an external pump to go in a drum for water. Its a submerisble puimp, and when you turn on a tap, there is a switch on them that then powers the pump. Any caravan shop will help you find the correct type.

10v is deep discharged for a lead acid battery. On zero load, 11,8v is the "100% discharged" voltage. Ideally you keep it above 12,3v no load (50% discharged). For the sake of completeness, 12,7v is fully charged (after charging it'll read 13,8v for a few hours or full days, it'll settle at 12,7 after a while) I can highly recommend getting a deep discharge protection. It'll cost a few tenners, but it can save you over a hundred bucks for a new battery.

Used to have one . Great idea . Great for towing as opposed to a caravan. Really spacious and very practical. However , not noise resistant at all (not good for light-sleepers next to a busy road ) and , don't get caught unawares with strong winds , spent a few sleepless night trying to stop it getting ripped to bits as the velcro side anchor strips aren't up to it . Apart from that , very enjoyable and a lot of interest from people who haven't seen or heard of one before .

In the early 70s we (2 couples) took advantage of an offer from Townsend Thoresen (remember, the ferry company) of an inclusive deal of ferry trip to/from France to include the hire of a trailer tent. Strangely, one had to collect the trailer on the British side and take it on the ferry. I fitted a tow hook to my Citröen Dyane, 2 cylinder, 425 cc opposed twin. We travelled about 1500 miles from Mont San Michelle in the west to Belgium in the east, including Paris. It was quite an eventful time, with much gear changing. On our final day, heading west to the ferry port, there was a force 6 gale blowing up the Channel. It was a case of 2nd and 3rd gears for the whole trip. The ferry crossing was very rough and we were glad to land in Blighty. Shortly thereafter, when home, we bought a better trailer tent with cooker, etc, so our Continental trip must've encouraged us. PS we took the car by open flatbed wagons on the overnight sleeper from Perth to/from London and drove to the coast.

Ha... I remember TIGI Bedhead from the days when I actually had hair on top... no use for it now sadly. And forget pits or XL bullys, Jack Russells are some of the fiercest, feistiest little things known to man. Ours was a little round barrel of a dog with a head, tail and legs stuck on and I was grateful on several occasions that she only had a little mouth with small teeth! (Always quick to forgive though.) Also Dolgellau is gorgeous, for a moment I thought you may have stayed on the same site that my late wife and I did in 2007, but I don't recall a busy road like that at the top of the hill - there was also a camping barn - *very* popular with the Lycra crowd IIRC!

Just a tip....if your trailer/caravan is wider than your tow car it is a legal requirement (in the UK at least) to have door mirror extensions which, positioned correctly, allows you to see much clearer behind the trailer/camper/caravan. There are many sorts available, the simpler/cheaper ones just clip around your cars mirrors with rubber straps or there are those which thumb-screw on to your vehicles mirrors a little more securely in my opinion and once set up can me on or off in just moments. Milenco do a very good range, but there are plenty of other makers too. And of course once you’re unhitched you MUST remove the towing mirrors too. Big Rich

The time honoured method of sanitising your water system is Milton sterilising fluid. Dilute as per makers instructions and flush a couple of gallons through the water system. For which, as others have remarked, you will need a submersible pump with electrical connection into the lift up flap on the side of the camper. The pump will be actuated by the foot switch with the pink plastic cover.

Trigano folding camper owner here, most folding campers are packed down buy throwing the sides of the canopy onto the roof section after letting the upright poles down. The more you do it the neater it gets, it should pack down flat to the extent you can put various items on top like chairs and bedding etc before putting the rain cover on, enjoy they are great fun and there’s always plenty to tinker with. The electrical connector next to the water co nectar could be for the water pump you stick in the fresh water tank outside

You need a 12v submersible pump. You drop it into water container, hose goes onto stub and 12v connects to block above. Camp shop will know which one you need. Caravans are easy to site once you've done it a few times, awnings are a pain. Some quite light and large ones available. Having your own toilet and shower is great in bad weather. Milton fluid or generic equivalent to clean the water. system

I really hope you enjoy the folding camper! I really do believe that with your very busy lifestyle and travels this could be a very affordable way of travelling and staying on your adventures.

Another reason for replacing the damper in h tow hitch is that one day you'll try to reverse over grass or up a slight incline, and find you can't because the force needed to push the trailer is greater than the resistance in the damper, and it just applies the trailer brakes. That's happened on both the caravans I've owned until I replaced the damper.

that was a good price you paid, ours was 950 pounds a year ago, but did come with all the side panels, awning, extra sleeping bit.

Of course, the film everybody is waiting for, is the one where you go away in the trailer-tent-camper, get it all set-up, and then a storm comes over! Not wishing anything bad to happen, but it will definitely be all of the exciting times!!!

Once hooked to Bella you could take the jockey wheel of completely by unscrewing the clamp fairly easely. That way you can open the backdoor without any trouble. I still think it sits scarely low for driving. I would start with hitching the cord behind the box.
