if you try something like this again, a lot of people who do acrylic pours use dish soap and water to thin paints, that may make it easier as well. if your paint is thinner, you might just be able to use a very thin needle, instead of going back and forth. it would be more prep, but you could also print a paper to put directly behind the bubbles, that way you dont have to go back and forth between your reference sheet (that may be hard to see because of the plastic though. Maybe you could mark the side facing you with its letter or number? whatever you do, thank you for sharing with us! this is such a neat idea, and I hope you can find a way to conplete your vision 💜

Is anyone else sitting here SCREAMING "Minori! Go get real needles in the smallest gauge you can find!!!!" With good technique you won't have the paint mess that you are getting with the large blunt needles. Love this idea and will use it for Social Committee over the summer. Thanks for all the hard work.
@pennycandyys10 ай бұрын
Blunt needles exist for a reason, it’s not a great idea to use real needles because of the risk of poking herself, repeatedly.
@miss_lilyanne9 ай бұрын
@pennycandyys You can't be serious. Crafting often uses sharp needles (sewing, cross stitch, embroidering) and it would have saved so much time and trouble. Crafting uses all kinds of dangerous tools including hot glue guns,saws, wood burning pens, chemicals, razor blades, and many others. A sharp needle seems pretty tame in comparison to resin crafting and the fumes/chemicals.
@louisejohnson60574 ай бұрын
@@miss_lilyanneWhy did you feel that you needed to begin your comment with the very snarky "You can't be serious"? This part of your comment wasn't just snarky, it was also a question and thus required a question mark. Try reading over your words before you tap send, because you may realize that you can say what you want to say without the unnecessary addition of the snark. I don't intend this in a mean way, but just as a reminder that words have power, and you don't know how what you say might affect the person to whom you're speaking. Stay safe and enjoy your autumn or spring, depending upon where you live. ✌️from 🇨🇦
@louisejohnson60574 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if the paint would be easy to pull up into a fine gauge needle, and it would be quite a bit easier to poke through the other side of the bubble that way. You're right though, it would be so much easier if a smaller gauge could be used.
@miss_lilyanne4 ай бұрын
@louisejohnson6057 @louisejohnson6057 You can't be serious is NOT a question and therefore does NOT require a question mark. If I asked "Are you serious?", I would then need a question mark. Before correcting someone, be sure to educate yourself to reduce the risk of looking like a nincompoop as you did here. As for "snark", that is all invented by you. I found the original reply that argued that a grown woman would poke herself over and over doing crafts and therefore it was not safe to be laughable. It was absurd. Almost as absurd as being misquoted and then lectured on tone, punctuation, and feelings by someone who needs to be educated rather than teach. So.. Happy Fall. Wave an American Flag. Insert cute emoji here. Whatever bull you need to make you feel better after someone gives you the old comment section spanking you needed.

@lmcintire-brooks47510 ай бұрын
I was very impressed with your color matching. I wonder if it might be a better idea to work with the bubble paper flat. That way, gravity will pull your paint down to more fully fill the bubbles and keep them from leaking in the puncture hole where you injected them. Tape the bubble wrap on the frame, but don't have the plastic sheet in it, just open and let the paint pool and collect to more fully fill the bubbles. I know it will get heavy with paint and at some point you may need to support it. But it's all trial and error at this point. Great job.
This is one of the most impressive art project I've ever seen! You are doing so great and so smart. I can't wait to see the final result 😮

Hi minori, I have a suggestion for bubble painting. Find the depth the needle goes into the bubble without hitting back of bubble. Place tape on needle to show where to stop pushing needle to get to depth needed. If this seems confusing, check out a construction video about tape on drill bits so it doesn't go to deep into wood. Hope you try again on bubble painting. Love this idea. Bye, garnet

thank you for sharing the creative idea and the processes for this! i also really appreciate that you still show this video even though you might consider it a fail, but content-wise it’s actually really helpful and encouraging to see the real things and challenges that happened. it’s also not your mistake that you didn’t check the bubble wraps, i think it’s near impossible to check them one by one and also its unlikely there’s a sheet of bubble wrap that size to have no flat/popped bubbles!

Great idea. You could do this with anything. Scrap or torn paper, miniature photos, bottle tops, jewellery - although that is already a thing, crocheted flowers, mosaics of broken plates - also already a thing, lots of media from 3 D to 2D.

You could use a 20 gauge (20G) sharp needle if you’re careful - still use the 18G blunt to draw it up, but swap it for a 20G sharp to inject it into the bubbles. If you get a 20ml syringe instead of the 10ml, you’d have to do less refilling too. Actually you can just dip the syringe tip in & draw it up directly that way. Would give you smaller holes & you should still be able to inject the paint ok. Even an 18G sharp needle to inject it would give you a smaller hole, as you pierce the plastic more easily instead of trying to force the blunt needle in. Just put your needles in warm water every time you change them to stop them from drying & clogging. (Lol. And now I just watched the much easier drawing up method you had!)

You can get bubble wrap with larger and more durable air pockets, it might make it easier since there's more room for error even if it means a slightly less detailed piece.

This is cool. (Edit: totally didnt wait until the end to comment. Ignore the rest because you did exactly what i suggested 😅) I think a pointed needle would work better though as its easier to pierce the layer without going out the front. It looks like youre using blunt needles which requires a bit more force and is likely where youre going through the front layer

oh, talk about having patience!! The color matching part was very satisfying [and they all looked matched to me!], though trying to figure out just how to do this had to be equal parts frustration and satisfaction once you figured it out! I'm probably the only one that's gonna say this, but I thought the "wrong" side looked better than the bubble side did. All of those nice, perfect circles.... So sorry you had to start over, I know how frustrating that can be, and good on you for keeping with it! Not everyone would have that kind of perseverance....
