5008 Creations - OC Streetcar: It's a start

The OC Streetcar is a tiny but hopeful light rail project in Orange County, and here are my thoughts on it

I think this wont end up like DC's streetcar and give opponents arguments against expansion. I grew up in OC and don't follow it as close as I used to. Thanks for posting!

I mean there is around 17 miles of just empty space where they could build the rest of the streetcar route.

They need to extend this into ARTIC in Anaheim. This would connect to Angels Stadium, Honda Center, Disneyland, and OC Vibe.

I doubt that this system will expand beyond the initial operating segment any time soon. OCTA and Orange County in general are still somewhat anti-tax, which means I doubt funding for anything beyond this will be forthcoming any time soon. I'm kind of surprised this got funded, frankly.

Honestly any connections for this will really make or break this line. The initial route is ok, but it doesnt serve some major areas like John Wayne Airport or disney.

How likely is it that they’ll connect to the LA county line as was the original SCAG vision? How willing are the remaining cities of Stanton and Cypress to cooperate? It seems that connecting the rest of Garden Grove isn’t a given either. Santa Ana had an odd proposal for LA Metro, to have them study the possibility of bringing their line to Santa Ana but to have it travel south on Harbor Blvd and west on 1st Street. All of that instead of it using the new track on Santa Ana Blvd. And that flies in the face of the original SCAG vision to connect OC and LA counties via the PE ROW, which is the alignment they used for this SNA GG segment.

Octa has progress reports published on their website. Progress has been slow though due to conflicts with the contractors and consultants

Not gonna, Lie I actually didn't realise that Santa Ana streetcar is under construction but also YES since I do wantto See and wish I knew their are more cities ti have Streetcar/Lightrail (Even Small to Mid cities)
