Nice build!! I love it and looks great black!!! I have a Stage 1 2016 S3 (6spd DC) from the US so we don’t get slick tops like you, we only get the sunroof. I want to say you’ll always have hate!! This is a great Road/Track car!!! Most people I know still have interior and AC for their “Track Car”. Sounds great too; so the one troll can can get bent if he doesn’t like the sound. Have fun with it. I’ll be looking for more to come!!

Alex, as you’ve mentioned you’ll be posting videos of the build. Could you include the video wherein you changed the OEM seats into buckets? Am wanting to know all the parts required including the airbag delete connector. Lastly, could you recommend a supplier of these seat hardware. All the best.

Thanks - I didn't shoot a step-by-step of the seat fitting process unfortunately. But we used OMP subframes and alloy side mounts and all hardware is from Demon Tweeks. AKS welded threaded eyelet points into the floor for the harness bolts too.

Alex, really interesting to see this build as I’m on a similar path with the mqb chassis with my TTRS built to msuk road series regulations for sprints, hill climbs and I’ll be going in the clubman+ class for Time Attack next year. What series are you taking the car in? How did you overcome the passenger seat occupancy sensor fault after installing your seats? Car looks great and looking forward to seeing it on circuit!

Nardo RS thanks mate really appreciate it. Sounds like a fun build you’re undertaking too :) the OE Seat belts are still in place as well as the harnesses, but also AKS took care of handling any sensor faults or issues as a result of removing the seats.

I want more input on the "ABSOLUTELY NO UNDERSTEER" comment because I find that hard to believe with the FWD bias Haldex or any AWD honestly. I have a 2017 S3 and I've tracked it quite a few times thats why i'm asking.

Look forward to seeing the rest of the videos on this build. Love the car. Currently Im building up a black Audi A3 8V hatchback, bought it used with around 30K miles in fantastic condition. Have just purchased an IS38 turbo from a 2019 Golf R, an intercooler from a 2018 S3, full intake system, downpipe, rear swaybar and end links, dogbone mount, stainless brake lines, upgraded DBA rotors and pads front and rear. Lightweight 19s with Michelin PS4s and APR stage 2 ECU and DSG software. All this came to half the price of a new S3. Pretty happy as its only a street car. Why did you go an S3 and not an RS3? Was it just a financial decision?

I have an 2014 S3 with a Stage 2 Unitronic tune and it is brilliant but I am wondering why you didn’t choose an RS3 instead of the S3. I would upgrade to an RS3 if I could.

Pete Walmsley cheers Pete. It’s a very valid question - I did seriously consider it, but we felt that 2.0L displacement opened the car up for more competitive events than a 2.5L. Also, the reports of additional heat build up with the 2.5L was a consideration. We have 2 x RS3 saloons at work and they’re fantastic, if it was purely a road car then an RS3 would make a better car than a Stage 3 2.0L imo - the cost to achieve 500bhp on each ends up very similar 👍

why not get a downpipe with a built-in high flow cat?

Syazzy Slackster that was an option but this way allows us to position the cat elsewhere in the exhaust system to keep any heat further away. Plus it has a ceramic coated downpipe to try and help with the heat build up too.

Making sure our software performs on the road all over the world, no matter of the climate conditions or varying driving styles. Most of our development is done on the road and track, using Bruntingthorpe and Millbrook to refine our software, rather than worrying about dyno figures. Its more important to us that our software delivers the right balance of driveability, longevity and performance. No point having great numbers on the dyno, when it doesn't feel nice to drive on the road. This is our Ethos, and one we stick too and what our customers expect. We have our own fleet on development vehicles, and we spend up to 18months on some calibrations before we then use our network of over 450 dealers to continue testing before people release. Yes this means software costs a lot more to develop and means we are not first to market, but we would rather make sure the software is right before it ever gets installed onto a customers car. And when it is, we know it will work and feel as OEM as possible, whilst offering the best possible performance gains within the limitations of vehicles, whilst ensuring we dont push things too hard and leave headroom within all calibrations.
