500HP Dodge SRT4 265K Miles & 500 Drag Passes! - "The Red Rocket"

On this episode we feature Chris and his super badass 2005 Dodge SRT-4! This is officially the first SRT-4 on TRC and it couldn't be with a better car/owner. This is the definition of a street/strip car, with over 265k road miles and well over 500 drag strip runs this car is one heck of a street machine. This is like my 95 S series. Doing forged pistons and SCAT rods, port and polish dual intake cams and low boost 10 PSI with E85 10 to 1 compression balanced and blueprinted. I identify a lot with this guy. I've had the car since my father gave it to me at 135,000 miles and drove the snot out of it and gradually kept building everything up, suspension, MFactory LSD, carbon hood, gauges wheels and tires, etc. Now I'm rebuilding it to what I mentioned it at 250K and technically the engine doesn't need a rebuild but it obviously wont handle the power I'm adding without a major overhaul. I'm in love with that car as much as this guy is and don't listen to the haters....lol

Go big turbo, it's a blast. My personal favorite setup was a Gt35R on E85. That car was NASTY lol. 50 trim is an awesome "starter" option though. Full bolt on + 50 Trim + good tune on 93 Pump gas= 300+ WHP every time. And you'll have plenty of room to play, just make sure you have the right fuel upgrades. If you want more power, easy. Go with water/meth injection or E85 and you can hit 400+ WHP with a good tune.

I had an 05 orange blast, with stage 2 mopar kit... it was my daily for 4 years, never one issue. I drag raced it almost every week at our local track. Traded it in because I joined the military, and needed a more travel friendly vehicle. I still dream I have it every once in a while... good times.. haha

I Daily Drive my NSRT4 40 miles to work everyday, It has a fair amount of work, still on stock turbo, but with AGP BFMIC, Coilovers, HKS BOV and hardpipe, solid mounts, 3" 02 housing w/ 3" straight pipe exhaust, wally 255 FP, AFM gauge, 30/30 boost gauge, catch can, K&N intake, Hurst STS w/ booger bushings, rebuilt the T850 with Pwerks blocker rings, new 3-4 syncro, and a 1-3-5 extender (shifts perfect every time), It is a good car, and reliable too. I recently had to put a new starter and battery in it. but aside from regular oil changes, and tires, it really doesn't complain much. I still floor it from time to time, to surprise the shit out of kids in new 5.0 mustangs. The look on their faces when my ratty old neon leaves them is gold. I feel bad for not washing it and cleaning it as often as I should. The only regret I have from daily driving it is, putting wear and tear on it. I would like to keep it nice.

Loved my SRT4. Had it for almost a decade. 50+ runs down the track, and the only thing I ever did in 10 years is bust the shift fork. Engine/turbo ran strong, daily driven and beaten. Videos are on my channel along with my new Hellcat! BTW, the owner is a good dude, met him at a meet one time.

I had one of these for 2-3 years. Very good bang for the buck. I highly recommend this as alternative to fwd pocket rocket car. Interior is horrible at least the dash plastic. The dash plastic exactly. Very cheap parts is great about these for easy 350whp. But evo honestly change my life after i sold my srt-4. But i enjoyed srt-4 bc it was my first intro to my own turbocharged car.

I almost have a similar story to this guy. Almost. I currently own a Caliber SRT4. Bought it December 27th 2011. Had 29K and some change for miles. Now, 2020, still own the car and my car is borderline close to 200K miles. The only things I really did to it is a K&N Cold Air Intake. Blow Off Plate. 1 Step Colder NGK spark plugs. Modern Performance Wastegate. And a Diablosport Tune. But I'm back on stock tune because the DS tune makes me sputter really bad. It's annoying, because according to my computer I'm getting about 309hp and tq. But I sputter so bad after hitting 14lbs of boost that even though I'm getting more boost past that, my car just sputters really badly. Haven't found out the issue, and when I emailed DS, they couldn't give me a direct answer. One day, when money right again, I'm going to get this tune and setup looked at.

It's Sitting At 300 WHP (340 on a dyno jet) and 420ft of torque. And Like Him "There's More To Come!" hahaha

The transmission is from a diesel Dodge Caravan. It can take the abuse, however it needs to be improved for 500+ hp. Ed Peters has talked about the transmission issues. If you spend the money you won't have them, about $2K for bulletproof transmission.

My srt 4 was my baby but in 2014 a man decided to run a red light through an intersection where I was driving and destroyed her. Scarred my face from the air bad as well. Will miss it for the rest of my life. Completely stock 2003 with 70k on it. Absolute unicorn. Rip

I had a big wheel stock turbo setup (FW E1) with a Mopar S2 Kit (+750 rc injectors) I ran nearly same drage times as your bws turbo, also ran a c5 vette, and a few mustangs at the track, Still have the trophy from winning my class that day. Someday I'll buy another, hopefully a big turbo
