It would help, at least me, if this test were done without the effects. Those muddy up the sound so it's harder to hear differences.
@pigasit
500k has a high frequency that is not required for a single coil. This makes it sound like a mosquito flying close to your ear.

Thanks Optim’ Guitare for letting me try these volume pots. These little test (in a context of a distorted amp) was made to highlight the impact of a volume knob on the tone (or not). In my experience the 500k seems clearer and lets more high frequencies through while the 250k sounds more rounded and dull in my opinion. Maybe the 500k volume pot will fit with humbucker or staggered single coils pickups whereas the 250k is more suitable with true single coils. But each to their own.

thanks for the info. going w the 500k for my build. peace.
@landebadalge2641
Since these are stacked humbucker pickup set, a 500K Volume potentiometer is the appropriate one. It gives more punch out of the amp. Like the 500Ks on Les Paul pickups. But the problem is the neck pickup poles dont line up with the 1st & 6th strings cos its too wide. 😏

I don't think the guys at Marshall are too worried about your volume & tone pots!
@jurepecnik9054
250k seems less muddy...
@GuillaumeVrac
Afterwards i won't recommend the 500k volume pot with the DiMarzio HS3 & 4. The sound mess around and it adds more larsens. 250k is better in this situation
@mojoe8005
500k seems brighter to my ear which I like, gives more ping not bent notes

Great video. Very well done. I thought there would be a more dramatic difference. It’s very subtle but there none the less. I take away from this that it comes down to personal preference. A beefier pickup might do better with the 500k pot and a thinner pickup would need the 250k. There are 330k pots.
@slidersson
thanks yngwie cool video man!
@buluemas
It all started in G3 concert where yngwie's guitar was beaten by Vai's ibanez...thus the brightness in his pickup using 500K
@emmanuelmarsy5099
et alors quelles sont les conclusions du maître luthier et du maître guitariste qui ont entendu la difference cela en direct ?😀
@markhammer643
500k vs 250k fait un difference....mais seulement quand ils sont au maximum. Reduis le volume un peu, et le difference disparait.
