Uncle Larry restrings his trusty old 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard whilst proudly displaying what 55 years (well 39 actively) of drinking ice cold beer will inevitably do to a man’s belly.
...and for your curiosity, here’s this bloke called Jesse Wells that i mentioned...the one that some posh internet bird made a video about trying to cancel....what the fuck ever...
a lot of folks don’t like his style or his voice…you may not either, i totally get it.
personally, i think he’s cool.
even if you hate it, you gotta admit the boy has a way with words.
• Fentanyl
oh, and by the way, i got a guy working on the "touched by an uncle" t shirts that many of you have been asking for.
here's the donation links to the Homeskoolin' channel if you are so inclined

So Im walken down the block in 1964 and I look to my right and see on the steps of a church a bunch of guitars. I see a gold one that strikes my fancy and I find a priest in the church who tells me its for sale. I didnt know what it was I only knew I dug it. I ran home got $65 dollars for it. Never even played it before purchasing it. Went home plugged it in and damn what a sound. It was a 55 or 6 les paul gold top with p 90s. I played it for years but had to sell it to do the interior on my 57 chevy! The village in the 60s was incredible. For 2 bucks you walked into a club got a cup of coffee (included in the price of admission) and heard some incredible music. Cafe Night Owl was my favorite spot. Thanks for reminding me.

On the topic of coated strings, some of us don't have much of a choice. The oils in my hands cause strings to oxidize very quickly and a set of NYXLs at my local music shop are $17 a set. It's not about the time required to change em; I find changing strings quite cathartic - it's a budget issue. Nearly $50 a month for guitar strings is not an insignificant expense for many of us.

Came back because I just had the moment necessary to get me committed to D’addario strings. I’ve been a EB user since childhood because I never felt the need to change. I bought a 10 pack of super slinky in 2021. I also bought 3 packs of D’addario 008 XL because I wanted to try out a lighter gauge. Today I went to change strings and all my EB have rusty/corrosive places on them. The D’addario were pristine. I now have no reason to not buy D’addario strings from here on out. Love ya, Uncle Larry.

I've been listening to Jesse Welles for a couple of months now.The first song I heard was "Whistle Boeing". Then "War isn't Murder". It's like Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie had an illegitimate love child. With one of them also foolin around with John Prine. Very clever and sarcastic lyrics. He also had a pop rock band called Welles when he was 16. He don't look like the same guy now. Talented young man.

Tom, to save yourself a lot of time, quickly pack everything you can in moving boxes, that way the movers are just doing the heavy fast work (saves money since you pay movers per hour). Then they grab a box, move it to the truck. Grab a box, move it to the truck, etc. And take the guitars yourself in the back of your car or truck. Don't want to risk them sloshing around in the back of a truck. And lastly any furniture that you especially don't want broken, WATCH THEM while they move it. And while it may seem annoying to have to watch over them. Make sure to tell them to be careful as well, and that it's fragile (while you watch them). If you don't they'll just carelessly chuck the furniture around as fast as they can. Took me two moves with damaged furniture to finally learn thats the ONLY way to make sure they don't break any furniture (sadly) and sure enough, last move where I watched them move the large furniture - no damage. Lastly, tell them to keep an eye at the corners of the house, otherwise they'll bash the crap out of your walls. Before anyone jumps down my throat, yes _some_ movers are good and do everything I mentioned without having to be watched, buuuut, are you willing to take that risk?? 🤔Plus it's REALLY hard to trust the reviews on yelp since some of my best experiences were with 3 star ones and worst ones with 4 star ones :/

I started using the nyxl about a year ago for a goof. Then I was pissed because they were much better and I like to change strings before gigs so now it gets more expensive. But they do last much longer. Also, D’addario Nickel/bronze for Acoustics. Best acoustic strings I’ve come across.

I was able to fix a 60' caved ABR-1 by pounding it with a soft mallet on a very thick flat concrete floor, it straightened out nicely.
