Very nice video; the climb over Upwey Bank demonstrates once again what extraordinary machines the Castles were.

Fantastic video Josh, the sound of Nunney working hard was superb....she was certainly throwing a great deal of clinker out of that chimney.......Bob

@liveuk I agree, brilliant soundtrack! The last pick up point is Frome. More details can be found on the Railway Touring Company's website, under UK Day Trips and then the Weymouth Seaside Coast Express.

I Might go on the Weymouth Seaside trip in the future when I save up some money. Not this year or next but maybe 2015.

Yeah I bet that was great, but I prefer the sound of a single chimney castle blasting away at the front!

Sorry but Tangmere boiler pressure as with all Light Pacifics has had its boiler pressure lowered to 250 psi from 280, so its performance is remarkable. Also its gone over Shap pulling 12 A Castle wouldn't even attempt it.

@@rolandlivings6165 I wonder whether the Castles have reached their full potential even now. Coal dust on the tables two coaches back suggests they are not as efficient as they could be. The sharp blast indicates that there is energy still in the exhaust steam. If you watch a Bulleid Pacific hard at work, the exhaust is still quiet and only just clears the chimney. Some of the Castles and most of the Kings got double chimneys as a result of the work by Ell at Swindon. More is known about the subject now than in 1955, so perhaps the improvement could be made while keeping a single chimney, eg fitting a five jet blastpipe and a wider diameter single chimney. The restoration of Thornbury Castle could be a chance to squeeze more performance out of a Castle.
