As to the pistols many of the shooters are using the Morini CM 84E, I see a Customized TOZ 35 M. The Morini has an electronic trigger and the TOZ has a mechanical set trigger. The triggers are very light, just a few grams. They are only allowed open sights and no optical magnification. The targets are 50 meters away (55 yards) with a 10 cm. ten ring. Sadly free pistol has been dropped from the Olympic program so there are no finals shot any more. The Morini CM 84E has been the dominant gun in FP for the last 30 years or so. That said the TOZ 35 is still seen.

How on earth do they allow clapping like that in the final shots? Even with the intense focus of high level shooting it's still distracting

They are called free pistols. the caliber ist .22lr. they have a trigger which goes off easily. And the specialty is, that you can cover your hand with the Grip almost the way, you like it. There is a limit to the size also, i think. But i can't tell it for sure
