Back to the days of my father and mother, there were lots of "fools" coming to Taiwan..... They didn't know what is fear but kept a pure mind to love this land. They were protected! Thank you, Andrey to bring me back with so many good memories. I would say more ...... as the 1st generation of mainlander born and grew up in Taiwan, we have been through all the good time and hard time of Taiwan and each hard time to give us an opportunity of upgrade! We have also learned a lot of how to love people from all sides and how to tell the truths from lies. Too many things were changed in the last 60 years but to stand as a freeman is never being changed now and forever. I love you, Taiwan!!
I would like to mention that I am here in Taiwan due to Mr Do Quy Toàn, who I had the good fortune to meet in Saigon, when I was still a barely tame teenager. In this interview I told how people told me to stay in Saigon. Since I have always highly respected Mr Toan, I asked his advice. He told me, "Go to Taiwan and learn Chinese. If you want to understand anything about the Orient, you have to understand Chinese culture, and Taiwan is the best place to learn about that." I have always been grateful for his advice.
What a wonderful interview. Epic. Everyone in Taiwan should watch this. Thank you so much. Yugan, I am wondering what's your take on Confucianism? I think it's detrimental to one's creativity, logic and reasoning ability, critical thinking, etc. Personally, I don't think it should be taught until college and only as an elective as I think it causes more harm than good to young minds. (I haven't visited the islands you mentioned so I don't know which is better. I have heard wonderful things about the Green and Orchid Islands. )

I have studied Confucius for almost fifty years. I started without any preconceptions, and have worked to understand what Confucius himself said, not what 儒家 twisted his words to mean. I remind my students that Confucius said, 不違如愚 any student who does not challenge the teacher must be an idiot. Confucius has the most agile mind of anybody I know about. If you learn what he said, it is a great boost to your creativity, reasoning ability, and critical thinking. (I left out "logic" because that is a Western science.) I am afraid that you are judging Confucius by 儒家, not by what Confucius taught. But this is a huge topic, more than I can go into here. Welcome to 洋猩文藝學堂 on Facebook; I have quite a few discussions on this topic there, and I am writing a book, to clean all the muck off of Confucius's thought.
