Leon Klatzkin composed this. The opening 00:00-00:04 sec. is quite brilliant.The Harps creating a sound of awareness and soaring flight, with violins doubling over. Then high above the brass , a single horn calls. Then another, and another. It's 1951-52 and this splendid movement for TV.
@TheDejael8 жыл бұрын
+Dakers11 - Most likely, European Russian-born composer Lan Adomian composed the Main Title and End Title music for "The Adventures of Superman". Leon Klatzkin was a lowly music editor in 1950-51 when this series was being prepared, and since the music was never copyrighted with the true identity of the composer, Klatzkin took credit for it himself when all he was hired to do was place the music tracks on the soundtracks of the film episodes. Klatzkin did not get his certificate in music composition until 1955, four years later. I doubt if he could have composed such complex and beautiful music in 1951. There has been a controversy over this subject for many years.

That's exactly what I realized a few years ago. You can't analyze the intro too much without realize that people wouldn't excitedly point at what they thought was a bird. Planes were quite a bit less common though. Although I suppose that an object that looked like a 6-foot long bird would generate amazement at first. ("Oh, never, mind, it's just a flying man")

That was the era of McCarthyism when anything and everything could be used against you to have you declared a "communist, subversive, pinko, fellow traveler". Right wing imposed conformity was FAR worse back then than anything you see today. But then, there was the right wing PC that compelled people to believe the mythic WMD hysteria under traitor Bush - just ask the Dixie Chicks and you'll know what I mean.

George Reeves was the Best Superman I grew up with. "Truth, Justice and the American Way" was the motto. The best ever......too bad all the latest technology and special affects couldn't be used as they are today. Even now the special affects are "lacking" in giving total credit to Superman's superhuman strength on how he flies, or crashes through walls of steel and concrete or deflects bullets without blinking an eye.(Superman Returns_Not bad) Man of Steel is even better when he flies. I am still dismayed over the untimely death of George Reeves and his future. It appears that his fiance, Lenore Lemon, admitted before she died that she was responsible for killing George. I have done some investigations into this case as I am former law enforcement/Private Investigator. See also: Jim Nolt who is a George Reeves fan and expert.

I very heartily agree! George Reeves was the very best of all the actors who played Superman including all the "modern" (newer) actors and and the old shows even though they didn't have all the super special effects and tricks that the later Superman movies that followed the ones George Reeves starred in.

@robm0732000 What's with the "You Americans" comment, you live in Canada not England or somewhere of great distance where it makes sense to say, you're literally next door. Not to mention Superman was created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel... in Cleveland, OHIO. -_-

When the Mole Men shot their gun at Luke Bensen and Superman saved Lukexby blocking the beam, shouldnt Superman have taken the gun and destroyed it?
@JoeNarbaizАй бұрын
No, because Bensen was a bigot. If you will notice when Bensen thanked Superman for saving his life, Superman told him that it was more than he deserved.

One of the best comments I've read this morning. The new world order, the swamp, Soros and his kind are truly evil on par with the Nazi regime. The swamp couldn't care less about the old America, truth,justice and the American way. Back then communism was despised and now it's "fashionable".I never thought communism could be popular to so many losers less than 30 years after the fall of the Soviet Union. Nice education system.

Hi Michael, Greetings from Melbourne, Australia. I loved that Superman Intro in fact I loved the entire series ! Your father was so talented devising that marvelous intro that sent kids from all over the world running to their tv sets to see a real Superman. An intro squence can make or break a series and this one captured everyones imagination !

Originally, Superman did not fly in the comic books...he LEAPED from place to place....he didnt start to "fly" until 3 or 4th year of the comic books..

The classic superman actually started to get more powerful within 5 years of writing, much more powerful than modern superman.

@bubbahubba1219 жыл бұрын
star trek Yes, I know...of course, the ORIGINAL Superman in the comic books was nothing like our Man of Steel....he was an evil bald headed mastermind...which later became the design for Lex Luthor....In the FLIMATION cartoons from the mid 60s, they show Superman "leaping" over buildings and not flying in a flat manner....which was a great nod to the original notion behind the original "good "Superman!
@thomasdalimonte85599 жыл бұрын
Bubba Hubba +star trek meant Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster original comics Superman, in Action Comics #1 1938. Same costume (little different 'S') same black hair, good guy. Just not overwhelming power. He's not referring to the '33 short story they did as kids, "Reign of the Superman", where they used the name for a villain. Besides, its now how much power Superman has, its how he uses it. (oh, I _am_ MissingPieces4U as well, my other ID :-)

Just because you didn't like MOS, doesn't change a thing. Every superman is different. That's how it's been for years.
@GeneralKenobi758 жыл бұрын
+Al Speid He's not just different, he's terrible. And it's not Henry Cavill's fault, none of the people on those movies know how to write Superman. All the different versions of Superman still had the spirit and genuine traits, this one doesn't.
@greenskull33938 жыл бұрын
GeneralKenobi75 it's a different take. Just because he's not a genuine boy scout who plays it safe doesn't make it bad. Not every incarnation of supes has to be good boy scott like Reeves. If a person wants to take Supes in a different path for a universe, then you can call foul till your red in the face cause no one will hear how you feel about MOS..
@GeneralKenobi758 жыл бұрын
Al Speid It's not that he's not a genuine boy scout. It's that he's self-pitying, self-centered, neurotic, and filled with contrived angst. Also, unlike the Reeves version, he doesn't act like an adult, he spends most of the time hiding from the world and not stepping up to take any responsibility. It's little wonder though, considering Jonathan and Martha Kent were terrible parents in this movie who taught him to be ashamed of his gifts and to fear the world. The Reeves version was better written and better developed as a character as well as being a better Superman. And guess what, lot's of people agree with me.
@greenskull33938 жыл бұрын
GeneralKenobi75 a lot of people also say Donald Trump is a great presidential candidate, doesn't make then right. You can say what you want on a youtube comment, doesn't change facts that it's a different interpretation with different goals and a different time then mr. Do no wrong, grinned while murdering Zod, Reeves Superman.

Thanks to Michael K. Yes an honorable mention to "that intro my father did so many years ago".I learned something today, "Bill Kennedy"--from Wiki: Willard "Bill" Kennedy (June 27, 1908 - January 27, 1997) was an American actor, voice artist, and host of the long-running Detroit-based television show, Bill Kennedy at the Movies. He began his career as a staff announcer in radio; Kennedy's voice narrates the opening of the television series Adventures of Superman. 5 STARS! --Van

Well, you're putting words in my mouth there, Agent Scully. I know it's not the same person saying both lines. Point is, as was, if you call out an object in the sky which is immediately declared to be a bird, it hardly looked extraordinary enough to mention in the first place. You were just trying to be snarky though, weren't you, Scully? And it backfired when you called me dump.
@wansimon22667 жыл бұрын
It's obviously that the first person saw something strange in the sky(definitely beyond his comprehension)and cried out,but the second person JUST thought it's a bird.I don't know why such a concise intro is too hard to understand for some people.
