That was an awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I always learn something new when I watch your videos.

I have thousands of guitar picks but I never considered using one as a stylus. Just tried it on my Kindle. It's perfect, especially since my muscle memory feels right at home with those familiar little pieces of plastic. In fact, since I use Dunlop Jazz 3s it's even more precise due to the more pointed tip. Thank you.

Towards the end of video the TinySa showed a better representation of the occupied BW of the modulated FM than the HP. TNX 4 the upload! 73 N8AUM

How can you tell it’s center tapped?

Hey IMSAI guy, consider doing a video with an antenna / home made RFI probe connected to the input and how well it works running around the house looking for RFI hot spots. I think that's what it would be great for!!!

ok good idea

Don't think it has enough dynamic range to sniff out RF unless your very close to the cheap Chinese SMPS that INVADED the world, Thank you China and our FCC for allowing cheap unfiltered junk, someone at FCC must have got a nice "$BONUS$" to look the other way!. Another way to find RFI is just using a plain old AM pocket radio. TNX 4 the upload ! 73 P.S. TNX U china for the virus !!!!

Question new to the spectrum analyzer.cb radio is at 27.185 I can see the signal I can see no harmonics.how to I see the actual am modulation using supplied antenna on the tinysa.i have my center as 27.185. the span set at 1mhz
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
you will need to have the span much narrower. say 100khz or 50khz. The TinySA is not very good at looking at modulation due to the limited 3kHz resolution bandwidth.

I am impressed with this but afraid to buy one yet after getting a Nanovna set up for SWR and finding it way off compared to my SWR meters readings and power output in HF ham bands. Carl, AB1ZI

Hi Carl, I recently purchased a Nanovna-F and when properly calibrated the SWR measurement is excellent compared with my 2 different SWR meters. I know the Nanovna-F version 3.1 output amplitude is greater than earlier versions of the Nanovna which likely improves its measurement capability/accuracy. I also made sure I bought the Nanovna-F from a reputable complany versus buying one based on lowest price.

@@wd8dsb Thanks for the reply. I think I might have a bad solder joint or something similar. Some times after I start the Nanovna it takes a coupe minutes before I get a trace on the screen and after it starts working the swr readings are off by a Meg or so. I think I got a junk one. Carl

Now I was told the tinysa has a built in speaker that you can access to hear the signal is this true??
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
No. There is a way to open up the device and hack into it and get an audio demodulation. This is very new. go to Tinysa.org

As the software changes, will those changes be rolled out to owners, or are you stuck with whatever was in the device when purchase? In other words, is it updateable? If not that needs to be a change the software engineers make.

The SW can easily be updated. IMSAI Guy did update the SW at least twice
@IMSAIGuy3 жыл бұрын
The firmware update is the same procedure as the NanoVNA. Erik has the latest version at: athome.kaashoek.com/tinySA/DFU/

Did the TinySA ever get ‘stabilized’ for you to update the video as you mentioned? Thanks & 73… 😊

It was re-designed. the ULTRA model fixes most things: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnaveHewaM6VhMk

@@IMSAIGuy DUMB Question 🤔: Mark, what is (excluding frequency range & tracking-generator) is the disadvantage of using an SDR as a spectrum-analyzer? Video topic? Unless I’m mistaken, don’t some SA’s actually have a lower dynamic-range than a good SDR? Also, do you feel say R&L Electronics is the way to go to get a genuine (non-clone) unit? BTW: They are out of stock. Thanks for responding and all you do! 🙂

@@SpinStar1956 where to buy: tinysa.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.Buying SDR is rubbish analyzer due to very wide and non selectable bandwidth filter
@SpinStar1956 Жыл бұрын
@@IMSAIGuy Ok. Well I did think about that but also thought that if you were using it to observe say an oscillator, or the signal (from a clean generator) through an amplifier, that those (along with their artifacts) would be the the only signals present. And that adjacent channel-selectivity wasn’t of paramount importance. I’m probably missing something as usual! 🥴 Anyway, thanks for the sourcing info; so far I previously purchased a regular TinySA and a VNA from R&L with great results…

I think people are waaaaay to picky and whiny about a little cheap as cr@p machine that does the same as a machine that 15 yrs ago would have cost you at least 10 grand.....These little things cost just about nothing and do a hell of a lot for that price...For most jobs it just does what it says on the tin. STOP WHINING, people.
