At 83 I had forgotten all about the dollar rides but now kind of remember them.

Dad was teaching T-38s at Columbus AFB in Oct. 1970. He did some supervising of flight operations and final wash out rides then, too. He did not like wash out rides. At all. Especially if the student pilot was an international from the middle east. He enjoyed cross-country flights with students, so I hope you offer some tales about them. He even did some unofficial back-seat ride-alongs for a few student pilots doing solo cross-country flights, lol. (Again, for international students. They did not want any 'incidents'.)

I caught myself in a big grin listening to your dollar ride description. Those were the days! I'd do it all over again, but I don't think the USAF is interested in a 75 year-old student in the pipeline.

Every Monday you had to fill out the T-38 Boldface/Limitations sheet and it had to be 100% correct or you didn't fly.
