Great episode! It's good to see that I am not the only person that gets nervous when applying. That spinning circle gets me every time lol.

@@LetsGetToThePoints Followed up on the application today and was approved with an 11k credit limit. I mainly got the card for the Gas multiplier. Furthermore, Costcos in Japan only take Mastercards and since I didn’t have a Mastercard in my portfolio, it just made sense since they are opening a Costco in Okinawa in the next few months.

Congrats on your approval!!!🎉. That will be fun having a Costco in Okinawa.

Wow, so nerve wrecking watching those apps live! I submitted a ton but my heart beats super fast each time I’m about to press submit. Very interesting episode and I love hearing the thought process of why a specific card! Serena - did you end up calling? Was the end result still denial?
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
High stress and sometimes no reward! 😅She still had a denial after recon. Citi is brutal! Thank you for watching, Monkey!
@richardjones42563 ай бұрын
I got denied for this card also but I actually already have this card. I was upgraded to this card about 3 or 4 years ago and didn't receive a sign up bonus as I wasn't into points and miles at the time. My rejection letter basically started that I have to much available credit . I think I should have canceled my current citi strata card first then re applied.
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about your denial! Even if you did cancel the current Strata, who knows if you would have been approved again. It seems like a crap shoot, kind of like Capital One. Many other cards to go after from here.

Win: Upon arriving at the Hyatt Ziva suite, we filled the jacuzzi to unwind from our flight. Lo and behold, it turned into a water park and flooded our room. My toddlers were slipping and falling left and right. After notifying the butler, we were moved to another suite, but the fiasco soaked up two hours and dampened our vacation start. Post-checkout, I went full Serena mode, talking to the manager and emailing the GM. In the end, I scored one night’s worth of points refunded. So, thanks for that!
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
FANTASTIC JOB!!! Kudos to you for advocating for yourself! Which Ziva was this? We’re wondering if your toddlers thought the slip n slide in the room was more fun than the waterpark! It must have felt so nice to get a night’s worth of points back! 🎉🎉🎉
@Budget.Boujee3 ай бұрын
It was at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun. They were worried about toddlers slipping, so they quickly sorted it out and refunded my points. They even called back weeks later to check if the kids were okay. Worked out perfectly-I used those points for my next adventure!

@@LetsGetToThePointsnot surprised at all with results, it happens to everyone the longer you're in the hobby. Gotta take denials in stride, it's part of the game. And sometimes, calling reconsideration works. Totally agree on that spinning wheel, anxiety-filled moments.

Another entertaining episode! Normally I get super nervous when applying for cards, but found myself getting nervous as well for your applications 😄 Recently applied for Citi Strata Premier (already had the OG Premier), but was denied and denied reconsideration :( Will be focusing on spending with my current cards and waiting a bit before the next app.

Guys, question to all of you. How much do you care about inquiries? Do you keep them under certain amount or do you not even pay attention to that, because obviously we’re applying for a card every couple months or so. Thank you for your answer.
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
Hi! The banks have varying levels of sensitivity to the number of inquiries. Without knowing the exact algo they use to determine approvals or denials, we don’t let it be a major factor for driving our decisions. If we are planning to take out a new loan, refi, etc then that is different and we recommend holding off on card applications for at least 6 months to a year in advance.

I am thinking- to cancel my Citi Strata Premier and apply at a later time - what do you think? Citi upgraded me from Premier to Strata automagically. I got this card in 2014
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
If you don’t get the benefit out of it anymore and don’t want to pay the fee, might be worth cancelling. But if you want to apply again, might make sense to wait to close until after you apply for the new one. They could see you closing this card as a negative.

Does anyone know why a Business Credit Card application using EIN and SSN Still show up on the Personal Credit Report as a Hard Inquiry? I didn’t want these inquiries that’s why I applied for Business Credit Card. Can these be removed?
@LetsGetToThePoints3 ай бұрын
Since business owners are responsible for financials of the company, they tend to hard pull on personal reports. Most bank business cards will not report an approval and open account to personal reports. This is why most people prefer opening business cards. Although it may be a hard pull, it will likely not show as a new account. There are a few exceptions. You can try to contact the credit bureaus for removal but that effort may not be worth it. But if it’s meaningful to you then it’s worth a call.
