If you just add a small filter cap after the diodes, then you can apply power to the input, AC or DC...also, when you apply DC it doesn't matter which wires (as you said) are connected to "+" or "-". This makes a foolproof AC-DC power input!! You can use Shottky diodes to reduce the voltage drop. ALSO, if you add a simple voltage regulator after the cap, then you have a wide range of voltage's possible---but a bit more v-drop. THANKS MUCH!!!

Another great teaching; thank you! Two thoughts... 1) The pinout that you drew for the Full Wave Bridge Rectifier is a common one. However, I have often found other pinouts for this particular component. An engineer should always check the data sheet for the exact make and model of the components that he/she is using. This is especially true, for FWBRs, in my experience. I am not faulting anything that you said; I am only emphasizing the need for extra caution regarding this specific component. 2) The FWBR that you used in your experiment may actually be faulty, as its voltage drop is significantly greater than expected. 1.77 volt drop / 2 diodes = 0.885V per diode verses a typical maximum of 0.7V. The additional 0.185V drop is significantly outside of the expected voltage drop rating. Of course, some of the fibers of the wiring could be broken and adding resistance. But, if someone were thinking of using this FWBR in an operational circuit, they might want to proof it. You obviously know this... I am only pointing out to students that engineers should not overlook these warning signs. I apologize, if I sound like a know-it-all. I am only trying to contribute. And, as FWBRs often involve dangerous mains voltage levels, there is safety in knowledge. I hope that helps your student viewers.

exactly you are right we must follow the datasheet for any comportment i used KBL406 bridge rectifier, its maximum forward drop voltage can reach upto 1.1 volt at 4 amp forward current in this series of videos i am explaining the possible configurations for polarity protection and finally we will analyze all these features moreover if a schottkey diode is used in place of a common diode, that will bring a significant improvement in voltage drop, power dissipation etc specially thankful for your valuable comment please accept my best regards

@@HaseebElectronics You teach me, more and more! I was not aware that this style of FWBR could have a maximum Vf Drop of that much. Greatly appreciated, my friend.

Thank you very much! Can I ask if for high frecuencies converters the rectification is also volt ac*1.4141, as it is when using 50 or 60 Hz? What about half wave rectifier, is it the same formula that for full wave rectifier?

Sorry, I forgot to thank you in advance.

basically all ac voltage are measured in RMS value that is 0.707 of the peak voltage of any sine signal when we convert RMS voltage into peak voltage (after rectifying these voltage through the bridge rectifier) it provides peak voltage. to convert it, it is multiplied with 1.414 check video number 305
