My first ever vehicle when i was a kid was a 1959 chev apache fleetside small back window short box. When i was around 12 my dad and i would spend sundays driving around looking at classic cars. One day we came across the 59 sitting in the back lot of a hot rod shop and that was it, i thought it was the coolest thing ive ever seen. My dad said he was going to see if the guy who owns the shop would let him take a leak and he walked out and said "its ours". I spent coutless hours sanding on it trying to get it to bare metal so we could start on the body. We got an old astro awd van we were going to take the frame and driveline out of because it would be a cool swap. 2008 the recession hit and my dads business being office services took a massive hit as his biggest customers scaled back hard. We had to sell the truck and now im in my early 30s keeping an eye out for another one. At first i wanted to put a 55 front clip on it, but now i have nostalgia i just straight up want the 59. The problem is these trucks have gotten extremely expensive. Ill have one eventually!

The phantom power when you turn the key off is probably the fan. As it spins down the fan motor will act as a generator and backpower anything else on the circuit. You were seeing the issue intermittently because the fan was kicking on and off throughout the session.

one of my buddies that i grew up with his dad built a 54 ford f100 small block chevy 400 turbo trans 9 inch rear and it had a tunnelram 2x4s it ran ok but more than that it would do figure 8s in two parking spots with your eyes closed it was a great fun truck so i think those 50s trucks all had the handleing thing down pat

Fleet side bed with a 55 front clip is literally my dream truck (I like the fleet side better than the cameo even). I’ve always wanted a satin black one with the bed spear painted red, there used to be a really rough one like that ran around my home town when I was a kid and I’ve always wanted one similar but just a little nicer (not even show quality just a good straight truck). Ls would be nice but heck I’d take anything from a sbc to a straight six as long as it looked and cruises right.
