This is fan-flipping-tastic to see her move under her own power, and hopefully, this will spark a movement towards more pre grouping gems being restored or new build projects across the UK Can't wait to see her in person

It might open the door to other locomotives like the t9, and m7 245 being freedfrom the nrm to suitable groups for restoration. The nrm needs to see what has been achieved here. City of Truro could easily be put in traffic, transfer ownership to Didcot. Other pre grouping engines same could be done. Evening star easily put back into traffic on an heritage railway.

I’m glad to see you put it/kept it in the LSWR Mint and Chocolate livery. It’s a nice colour scheme that not very many locos have been preserved in. I don’t think many other locos from the National Collection should be brought to steam. We could lose authenticity during rebuilds, classic liveries could be lost and the number of static exhibits could rapidly decrease.

This is what preservation is all about. It could be the stepping stone to see more Victorian/Edwardian locomotives run on our heritage railways.

Totally agree the concept of transferring ownership to a group who has brought this loco alive again. Swange has done a grand job. Glad she was freed from the nrm and now has a future. What about the other m7 tank 245 next, this should go to the swange railway. Free the t9 120 as well.

They thought the skill and dedication required to keep these older gems up and running in our present day terms was not a likely thing. The work on 563 by all concerned - not least by my friend Bill Parker's fabulous team - along with the Bluebell Railway's beautifully-turned out rebuild of their Fenchurch back to as close to its original condition, really testifies that there are no limits if the passion is there. Regards, Samuel Farris.

Mr. Adams would be so proud of one of his babies,is still active! The LSWR had so really impressive engines, but there are so few,in existence! The Southern should have had a museum collection, ala the ATSF,PRR,and the Southern[US],as it would have covered the history of steam, and with a few extra attractions! Mr. Drummond's Bug would have been a show stopper! One can dream, but there is a small note, the LSWR had,in its heyday, two engines, having the wheel arrangement as its road number;one each,440,and 460,both Drummond productions! Thank God that was caught on film otherwise no one would believe it! Your work is excellent and that T3 is a thing of beauty! And the front overhang, would do justice to an SD40-2,so there was a prototype!! Thank you 😇 😊!

There are not many Victorian 4-4-0 locomotives in steam anymore, the T3 actually is the only one at the moment. Great work done to bring this engine back in steam, the T9 is next?

The restoration is a splendid job but don't forget that, despite the running gear needing relatively little work the overhaul has cost£500,000. Keep the wishful thinking about future projects in moderation please

I remember a nice colour plate of it with a restored LSWR carriage (in salmon pink) for 1947/8. I have wondered what became of it. I guess the coach did not survive.

Hopefully it stays in pregrouping livery not BR livery.........Id certainly like to see some of the other pregrouping locos return to steam, Johnson Spinner, Midland Compound, Hardwick, Worsdells NE 4-4-0, Sterling Single again, just to name a few. A new build of Johnsons Belpaire would be fantastic to run with the Midland Compound or with the new build LNWR Prince George.....

I’ve never been so ecstatic about a new build since the B17 was announced! It’s just beautiful that preservationists can get together and bring back lost classes of locomotives. It’s funny how the whistles sounded and I said, “What about both at the same time?” And there it was!!
