You did a superb job on a kit with (some) flaws and (lots of) simplifications and missing details. The paint job lets all that disappear. I particularly liked what you did for the casting look of the turret (very simple technique but highly effective, with convincing results), and how all the various paint layers are tied together into a ‚convincing‘ look of a heavily used armored vehicle. Congrats!

This guy sees the build as something to get past to get to the painting and weathering. Everybody freaks out on this model because of the open sponsons, but they can't be seen in the end. This paint technique looks good on the Sherman because one of these would be more likely to last longer, due to large numbers being deployed, or repaired and returned to combat. Your final results sure do stand out.

Great idea the darker base colour then hairspray, then a lighter tone etc... will give that a try on my next AFV build. Just a quick thought - NOT a criticism - to add to the realism, you ought to try adding tie-down ropes to your stowage, it will make a huge difference. Your figure painting is very good, would like to see a short video on how you do yours - I've been building AFV's for over thirty years and my figure painting is still 'average' at best ! All the best from New Zealand.

Just found your build great work, love your weathering of the Sherman. Just one small detail the track on your Sherman are T48 rubber block type not metal, the blocks would not have metal showing on them, easy fix just drybrush a dark grey over the areas you dry brushed silver

Awesome work!!! What thinner did you use for the paint over the hairspray? And did you use Tamiya lacquer paints or the normal ones? I'm always afraid, that the paint wouldn't come off, with this many layers or with an 'aggressive' lacquer thinner...
@NONPLA3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The hair spray is not diluted with thinner and is sprayed as it is. Tamiya's acrylic paint is used for the paint to peel off.
