It's fun to see what your place looked like before you started renovating it. You've done w great job!

I'll bet the museum would allow it if you gave them a copy of the video to sell... Like any museum they always need money.

The art work at my place was corroded to the point it was unrecognizable, then painted over before I purchased the site. I am trying to find the original artists and willing to commission them to come back and recreate it. I have the names, and I have asked several retirement groups to help me locate them - but no luck so far.

Ha is that metal building built on top of the other fuel hard stand?
@ArizonaTitan4 жыл бұрын
Good eye! The old hard stand is a thick concrete slab tilted to accommodate potential spillage. A new footing was poured about 50% larger and a few inches higher, so only half as much concrete was needed for the floor of that building. By pouring new concrete over the old a larger, perfectly level shop floor was created. A good example of what I mean by "re-purposing"... using/leveraging the existing infrastructure to make something modern and useful.

Amazing work! How is the temperature at that depth? Does it stay cool all year? Thanks.
@ArizonaTitan4 жыл бұрын
It's actually interesting... It can get quite warm down there in the summer. I found if I use a big fan to pull in cold night air all winter, then close it up in the summer, it stays nice all year 'round.

So do you have access to your silo? Where the missile was.
@ArizonaTitan4 жыл бұрын
The Titan 2 sites were scrapped, then the top 25 feet was dynamited for the Soviets to inspect then the debris was bulldozed into the launch duct. A 3-foot thick reinforced concrete disk 60 feet across was poured, then covered with 25 feet of dirt. In theory the rooms around the launch duct are sitting down there in the darkness to explore, but it would be a large undertaking with no payback (just adventure) to incur that expense.
@joeconti20344 жыл бұрын
@@ArizonaTitan so just the LCC is available to reuse. Wow.
@ArizonaTitan4 жыл бұрын
@@joeconti2034 About 3,200 sq ft of usable floor space on the 3 levels of the LCC, the blast lock room, and decontamination room. That's not counting the short cable-way, storage under level 3, and entrance portal space. That's more room than most houses and plenty big enough to be my man-cave (the basement) of my house someday soon ;)

The missle sillo might not be to bad if it's not filled up
@ArizonaTitan4 жыл бұрын
Time will tell! Even though they dynamited the top 25 feet of the silo, allowed the Soviets to examine the wreckage, bulldozed the debris into the launch duct, then poured an impenetrable 3-foot thick 60-foot wide reinforced concrete pad on top... 25 feet under the surface of the earth... who knows... maybe I'll try to dig it out. I've done more impressive feats... (actually... stay tuned!)
@zfgm10654 жыл бұрын
@@ArizonaTitan I am not sure, but maybe you could try entering the silo via the hole at level 2 using a vacuum truck - if there is only gravel or dirt blocking the space around the launch tube
