Just goes to show the benefits of a heavier rifle occasionally! For real. One of the guns I own is an old Winchester Model 37, a very light single shot shotgun. The recoil from firing high velocity slugs (1,600fps / 1,700fps) through it feels less like a shove and more like an actual sting. It's kinda addictive, but firing a few of those in a row means guaranteed bruising.

@@TheAbyssalStorm It's bad design, putting the magazine release on the inside of the trigger guard like that given just how hard that rifle kicks. I doubt very many people would actually be able to keep from bumping it and dumping the mag spring out the bottom like that every time they fire that weapon.

the exact same system was on the old arisakas from over 100 years ago and when the russians got their hands on some, in the russo-japanese war, they immediately sawed that thing off (or took the effort to disable it by putting metal ring around the trigger guard so that it would be unable to move). yerp. very very old issue, my friend. pretty cool to think, though.

Wow! Love the video and I’m sure the folks at Premier are impressed and shocked that their plates stopped those rounds that the plates aren’t technically rated to stop. But send the plates to them for a forensic/QA analysis so they can improve.

Give it a rating of 6 if they develop one that you can actually move in that will stop that round nose solid _WITHOUT_ deforming so badly on the back that it gorilla punches your heart.

Really, it becomes pretty immaterial if the armor stopped the round, I think, because it would have shattered their sternum and blown chunks of ribs through their torso, I suspect. Heart-stopping impact as well.

Coincidentally, Gun Jesus over at Forgotten Weapons just posted a video on Finnish service Arisaka rifles with the same type of magazine release, and the solution that the Russians devised was either to just wrap a bit of sheet metal around the trigger guard to prevent the trigger release from being accidentally pushed or to grind/file the release nub flush with the trigger guard so you have to deliberately reach in and press the release...

I watched a video last night of several people shooting the 577 at a shooting range. Most could hardly hold on to it, and the ones who managed to hold on to it were knocked on their butts. Its amazing watching you just shoot it.

Wonder flip of the table. The weird part about it is I knew it was going to land on its feet before you flipped it and I haven't seen the show before today. Beautiful English Walnut stocks on the rifles. The company will have to redesign the magazine catch to the side of the rifle.

When it comes to the 577 Tyrannosaur I wonder if you would hurt less without wearing the armor plate. Seems like a clear through 60 caliber hole (depending on where it hits) would not hurt as much as having the armor plate turn your insides into jelly as it 'kisses' you backbone.
