Dear Sarah, I'm not going to say anything that you have not already heard. You are a beautiful woman with a pure and Gentle soul. And because you remind me SO much of my wife of 45 years, I have to stop watching you. Lana died in 2010, and as much as you make me feel so young (I'm 75) with your kindness and sense of humor, it hurts too much.. God bless you and keep you safe.

Hermit's Cabin The Hermit's Cave was constructed by a man named Bob Stinson. Bob served his country in World War I. Upon returning home from the war he learned that his girlfriend left and married another man. Heart broke he decided to travel to Delta Utah to visit his brother in 1929. While making his way through the Marjum Pass just 45 miles from Delta Utah; Bob's house on wheels broke down. Looking for shelter Bob located a small natural cave in the side of a canyon. By using local rock, he enclosed the front of the cave which is now known as the Hermit's Cave House, or Hermit's Cabin. Bob was often called the Hermit of Marjum Pass. The government paid him to keep the pass clear of debris, as it was at the time the major east/west highway from Delta to Nevada. To earn extra spending money he trapped bobcats and coyotes, mixed poisons for the government to kill grasshoppers, and he even raised a handful of sheep. When Bob would have visitors, out of the greatness of his heart, he would offer them a glass of home brew. In 1951 Bob lost his road job when the new paved highway was built several miles to the south. Bob, then in his 70's, moved into Delta to be near a few more creature comforts. At the age of 80 when Bob passed away he was cremated and his ashes were spread at the base of the rock house he built in Marjum Pass. Please protect the Hermit's Cave for many more generations. Please don't lean on the walls and don't leave your mark in anyway. Always pack out your trash.

Sarah thank you for the content and sharing the cool places that you visit here in Utah and all the other places that you visit, and thank you for being so respectful with nature and setting that example. You have inspired me and my friends to explore more of our great country and given me a deeper appreciation for history.

You are somewhat in one of my former areas of interest pre-retirement, you hussy you. I have taught public speaking/rhetoric with an advanced degree. (Also played around with theater as part of it all.) One of the reasons I follow you, after your stunning beauty, is how you speak. Either you rehearse these videos ahead of time (mentally if no more complicated planning is involved) or you have a nearly spectacular off-the-cuff extemporaneous talent. I salute you as one who puts to work what I used to teach!

Hi Sarah Regarding the "door opening". At 6:40 of your video you can see the mortar Bob used to build the stone walls is concave, Sooooo. probably had a post in place like the right even before he started his stone work. His door timber/jamb if you will. with the rounded timber in place he would build his wall using the door jamb /timber as a guide/form ,mortaring the stone and the jamb together. The timber/jamb on the left may have had hinges for a door. Or maybe a blanket/tarp as a way to cover the entrance. The window frame has a pc. of wood attached. Kinda a flange that may have acted at as sash/or hunk of wood, to close the window off. A bent nail ,twisted into place after putting the wood in place is the sash lock. Im a master cabinet maker and master finish carpenter And "construction super".....other wise known as......."chief cook and bottle washer " if you will. Sooooo just guessing. Travel safe and well!!!!! Ken

I saw something like this south of Moab, Utah. It was a single room blasted into a big sandstone rock, used by a uranium prospector. The water catchment system was still in place, and there was a second door, but it was locked. No idea what was behind it. Cool.

@Wonderhussy Adventures Great video, Love. I get the feeling that wasn't the warmest "cabin" ever built...but that "stove" probably did take the chill off.
