I went with similar just last week. I grabbed the 5700X3D for $192. That'll be it for my AM4 TUF.

5700X3D? Nice, that must have more recently come out. It wasn't around when I made this, but yeah, that'd be a good bang for buck gaming CPU.

hey nice I too have this CPU I came from a 5900X I noticed a 35% in performance when playing VR Chat with my Nitro+ RX 6800 XT SE with SAM enabled plus the 1Gigabit Internet connection also helped, the 5800X3D is a decent chip to max out your AMD AM4 gaming system and it will keep you going for at least 4 a 5 years easily. Nice video and grats with the purchase :)

Thanks. So you're saying you went from a 5900x to a 5800X3D and noticed an improvement, even tho it's less cores ?

@@DATT well when playing VR Chat only one of the 2 CCD's is mostly used so basically I went from 1x 6 Core = 32MB L3 to 1x 8 Core + 96MB L3, this was a major change for my performance when doing VR Chat with my Pico 4 & Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 XT Special Edition with the 5800 X3D in combination. Plus Gigabit internet also helped a lot all in all it's a lovey upgrade package, and UI only gave our 305 Eur for the new CPU and 5 EUR extra for the faster internet connection I went from 100Mbit down with 30 Mbit Up to 1000Mbit Down and 100Mbit Up, sadly I can only choose one provider but in the end all these changes made my online game play experience miles better. The 5900X is a better CPU if you are a content creator same goes for the 5950X, AMD did make engineering samples of the 5900X3D and 5850X3D but wt both CCD's having the extra 96MB L3 cache instead, these were also much better in3D games , power usage did go up a bit but for very odd reasons these two were never put in to production, there is a 7900X3D and 7950X3D but these only have the extra 96MB L3 for the main CCD< with ZEN5 we should be getting the 96MB L3 for both CCD's as the 9900X3D and the 9950X3D go, odd they never stuck to this idea since the ZEN3 based CPU's. Sometimes an older design can prove more worthy I guess.

@@obi-wankenobi1190 Yeah eh, I did figure myself that the 5800X3C would be better for gaming than the 5900X, that's why I went with it, so you've just confirmed that for me. And yeah, I run a 7950X on my editing rig. I opted not to get the X3D for this application.

@@DATT Yea that makes perfect sense, nice cpu btw.

@@DATT that's a fine choice there as that 16 core/32 thread ZEN4 chip goes, they actually use EPYC CCD's I heard from a friend of mine he goes as well, in some application disabeling the SMT can provide useful as well so you have the full 16 cores giving just 16 threads instead, this will also make the chip use much less power resulting much cooler full load workloads. for gaming SMT can be quite helpful it all depends what you do though, if your application loves SMP /SMT then having it enabled can give more effect to your workload time lapse.. Do you also have a discord by any chance? Keep up the great work bud.

if you use PBO2 Tuner with the 5800X3D using a -30 offset on all cores you can get better cooling and performance (:

Oh, yeah know, I haven't bothered to tweek this. Used to be I would offset the core voltage down a bit. Kind of had to a while back cause I found it ran to high. I think I found at some point bios updates had sorted that out, and anytime I tried it got unstable. I might have to take another look at that sometime. But, -30 what ? Core voltage ? -30mV ?
