@oakrunacres25642 жыл бұрын
Glad you're liking it Gord. She'll definitely wake up a little after a few tanks of fuel through it. When cutting try just keeping the bar level and let the weight of the saw melt through the wood. You won't get that biting and grabbing you're experiencing when you pull back after you're initial forward tilt. I can see how you would do that with the less powerful 261 but that 462 has the power and weight to just go straight through the wood. When you try it on some smaller stuff you'll find you can stand straight up and cut with the time and not have to bend over. Dave

Hey thanks OR! I will give it a try soon. Cheers!

I had a MS390 with a 25” bar and, like you say, it would go right through the wood with the bar level. I didn’t notice the extra weight because the log supported the bar.

You have some really nice logs to test out your new beast of a saw. Very, very sweet saw. She pulls and pushes and over time you will hardly notice it. The only time you may not like it as much is when you are sharpening it, there are a lot more teeth than the 261. One thing to note is that when you are bending over the log to see the tip you don't want to be throttling because if the tip comes into contact with the ground or the log pinches it you may experience some severe kickback with your face and or body in the way. You really only need to cut a little on the backside then level the saw and let it do the work. It's usually when the log is bigger than the width of the bar you reach over then come back to level. Have a great day and enjoy that beautiful saw!

I was looking at a 462 to add to my 261, but I just don’t cut big wood like that, so I picked up a MSA 200. I added two model AP300 batteries, but suggest going with one. It provides 45 mins. of cutting, which is more than enough for small trees and limbing.

The reason you could not find any huskies in the woods is simple. One they are produced in a manner that allows them to be purchased when they are needed. Two they are fast and their owners are motivated so the work was done when it should have been done not in the middle of the summer. Thirdly they are all busy making a wooden stock aid for JT! You will notice a significant increase in power after the 2nd or 3rd take of gas. I have gotten in the habit of checking the chain tension after making the first 5-10 cuts. The longer chain expands more with the heat. I also loosen the chain tension each time once I am done cutting.

Gord, can you tell me what a good Aggressive cutting chain would be for an 18" bar. Something that cuts taking out alot of wood. Do they make a chain like this ? WOW that new saw is Great, lots of power ! Good Video, Gord.
@GPOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Good morning Stanley - I am not super informed on the different chains but I know that chain with the green dot on the box ( the ones I use - they are more "friendly" for someone like myself) - they are designed to minimize the chance of kickback so I believe are not as aggressive. I believe the more aggressive profile chains are the ones with the Yellow dot on the box. But best to ask your guy at your local saw shop for sure. Sorry i could not help more. Cheers!

Dude, nice saw! A little advice here, it'll speed up your cutting. You will find that it cuts faster NOT pivoting the saw while you cut. Keep the bar horizontal all the way thru the cut. It's a lot more efficient than pivoting because when you pivot the saw back to make the final cut, the bar is only cutting a few pinches of wood. When you keep your bar horizontal all the way thru the cut, you are always putting the maximum amount of wood on the bar - resulting in a very efficient cut. Just try it for a while, you'll soon see what I'm talking about. Anyhow, have a great weekend!!
