I just bought this ... my first capture card. I used it to record ps4 so far so good. Quality looks really good. @5after125 жыл бұрын
so I have had this same issue, that is why my videos generally are recorded on the Switch. I think in theory if you could get some type of bluetooth dongle and connect it to the AVerMedia, it should work. I haven't tried it yet, but I was considering just using a voice recorder app on my phone to try to record the audio separately. This was also my first capture card. I recently bought the elgato HD60 S, which I haven't posted a video on yet, but so far i think i like the AVerMedia better.

ive been researching how to record nintendo switch gameplay with the 2 plus in PC-Free mode, so to record it do i just need a monitor with HDMI?
@5after124 жыл бұрын
To use the Nintendo Switch with the AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus and no computer you would need the following: Nintendo Switch Docked with power and HDMI going to the AVerMedia. The AVerMedia needs power and a MicroSD card. Then you need an HDMI cord from the AVerMedia to some type of display, a TV or a monitor or whatever so you can see what you are doing. That will record the game play to the MicroSD card.

Hi! I got one of these aswell but haven't set it up yet. My question to You is, let say you record your gameplay for 1 hour how big is that file gonna be? Is it enough with a 64GB MicroSD or should i'll go with 128GB as you did?
@5after124 жыл бұрын
I think a 64GB would be fine for recording an hour of game play. You would just want to keep an eye on storage and move the files to another location as it begins to fill up. However, there is not much of a cost difference between 64GB and 128GB probably. Side note: I am still a big fan of the AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus and I use it regularly. I have also used it for non-gaming items. It is a great device. I even bought the elgato device, but I never even made a video on it because I hated it. I prefer the AVerMedia so much. It was a great investment.

The only negative of using it without the PC is that you cannot separate the audio tracks from the video. So when I record from a PC, I use the AVerMedia to record video and the HyperX Quadcast for audio. Now when I record PC free, I generally record the audio with my phone or something else so I can have a separate audio commentary track

@5after124 жыл бұрын
So you can record your video PC free, but you can't stream PC free. Is that what you meant by doing it live? It can record anything with an HDMI output, so the Raspberry Pi 4 should be fine. I have two of them that I am tinkering with now. What I was saying is that if I record game play with my headphone mic plugged into the AVerMedia it combines my audio commentary and game playing sounds into one file. So if I need to record PC free, I use the Sound Recorder app on my phone to record me talking during game play while at the same time the AVerMedia is recording the game video and audio

You can also use the Commentary Line only if you use a microphone with a headphone jack line out into the LGP2. I use a Zoom H2n Mic. Your tv will be the game sound and your voice will both go into the mic and then out into the Commentary Line this way you don't have to wear headphones (for those that don't want to that is). This is the way I do it since lately I've had 3 people total in my videos commentary. The only negative is the game audio isn't a direct line so you need a decent mic to compensate. Alternatively, you can use a 3.5mm splitter from the line out of the mic so you can all wear headphones under my setup but it's only necessary the first time to monitor the levels until you set it to your liking. Afterwards you won't need them unless you just want to wear them.
@5after126 жыл бұрын
What a detailed comment! I have a pair of HyperX headphones that have a splitter of sorts, that I think I might be able to connect. I generally play on my computer monitor so I do like wearing headphones. So far I have not had much need to have multiple people chatting, but as I get more into streaming, I feel I am going to need to set that up. So I will check out this tip and see if it works for my needs. Thanks again

I like to reply detailed for reviews like this because I've noticed many people have issues with it and I had many issues with the first LGP. I upgraded for the seamless capture and 1080p/60fps and occasionally check out others videos and see if I could help. Here's my video showing this if you don't mind: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4WUq4eIa8qNrrs It even allows me to play online with my (personal) friends, use a phone on speaker to capture their voice as well. Of course Skype would work too. It seems complicated, but this is because I have it setup for taking it to work.

It depends on what you want to record. If you want to record the PC, it would be the HDMI out of the PC and into the AVerMedia. Then an HDMI out of the AVerMedia to the monitor. If you want to record from something like the Nintendo Switch the HDMI would go from the Switch into the AVerMedia and then the AVerMedia would communicate to the PC over the USB cord

That is correct. There is an added benefit of using the computer software to separate the audio and the video. So I can have a separate track from my HyperX Quadcast microphone and a separate track for the Switch. However, sometimes I would get some stuttering on the video, not sure if that is because the AVerMedia doesn't use USB 3.0 or because I didn't have fast enough storage on the computer
