When this song came out! i was 15 years old the first time i heard this song i thought it was Elvis because i neverd heard the performace
of him ,eventually i found the version of Terry Stafford much better.
(The beautiful lady on the images is Rita Hayworth)

Memories of high school back then, I was 17 and had this 45 RPM record in my collection. The lyrics were understandable and the backing was great. I'll be 76 this month. Cheers to all those who are still with us from that time period. Bob

I’m 69, I still can’t get enough of the 60s. In 1974 (in my 62 Pontiac, then 1974 cuda) we were still cruising downtown at 5mph all night blasting the tunes of the 50s,60s,& 70s. You can catch that feeling, just watch the movie American graffiti, you’ll see what it was like!!

A Baracuda! I'm 78 & cruising was the fun thing to do especially Saturday nights. And yes we had out radio's blasting, often on the same stations.

I was 14 when this song came out. I married at 18 and my wife and I danced to this song so many times. Every time I hear it I remember holding her close and dancing and loving her so much. I miss dancing with her.

​@@Girlxyz540Terry Stafford did indeed sing the song Amarillo By Morning as he wrote tge lyricis to the song. In about 1981, Amarillo By Morning was redone by country music artist George Staite, which he did a good job of it, ony with a great deal of country/western flavor added to it. Terry Stafford has since passed away in about 1995 I do believe, sad that he is gone, however the memory of this song brings back how great of a man he was singing this song like he did.

I was 19 when this song came out in the summer of 1965. I broke up with my first steady, brings back memories. This song was what I was feeling then. Four years later met my wife, we’re married 55 years this year…….i love her dearly!

Harry Cohn, the head of Columbia Pictures, and Rita had a very contentious relationship, allegedly because she refused to sleep with him. Harry had quite the reputation for mistreating the talent, especially the women. Rita was not allowed to sing in her movies, and Cohn denied her the vocal lessons commonly given to actors during the studio system.

Elvis recorded it first on his Pot Luck album in '62. Elvis voice is richer. Stafford was one of several who covered Elvis songs and imitated his voice ( e.g. Dowell, Donner).

I grew up listening to Terry Stafford during the 60's and I'm still listening 🎶 to this song 🎵 on the 9th of January 2024 and in about 6 weeks I'll be 66 and this song 🎵 🎶 will still be played for many centuries into the future 🎵 🎶 ❤

This came out when I was thirteen and I never forgot it. At 72 those backing oooo's, his voice and the arrangement still amaze me. Out of the thousands of songs I've listened to, this one, more than any other, puts me back there again.

Elvis released it on his Pot Luck LP and later on B side 45. RCA was releasing old songs just to make money. However, I always liked it and have the original in my Elvis Collection. Great cover by Stafford.

Great posting. Terry Stafford's original recording of Suspicion is the best. Linking it with a pretty girls legs walking down the street, and pictures of Rita Hayworth are just icing on the cake.

I was 14 when this song was released. I still own this on 45 vinyl from when I was a kid. I've long held Terry Stafford's version of this song was the best...the most authentic. I also saw a very old tape of when Dick Clark interviewed Terry just as his record was skyrocketing. Terry was a genuine, humble and very likeable guy. RIP Terry.

This song haunts me. I was born in 1957. Growing up in the sixties I have memories that are not clear but are in the fringes. I feel like I have lost the knowledge of something beautiful and will never experience it again. All that's left now is old age and death.
