5G Identities SUPI and SUCI

A SUPI is a 5G globally unique Subscription Permanent Identifier (SUPI) allocated to each subscriber and defined in 3GPP specification TS 23.501. The SUPI value is provisioned in USIM and UDM/UDR function in 5G Core.
Subscription Concealed Identier (SUCI) is a privacy preserving identifier containing the concealed SUPI. The UE generates a SUCI using a protection scheme with the public key of the Home Network. SUCI is used by UE during Initial Registration on the Network.
This has solved security issue of IMSI catcher by using encrypted value of SUPI instead of plain text which was there in 2G,3G and 4G System

Thanks for the presentation. Whay does the AMF still need to authenticate the UE through the UDM once it recovered its SUPI from the GUTI (coming from a registration request)? A GUTI was generated after authentication by UDM. Thanks
