Good review--great suit too. Thanks for including so much detail. One point on the whole red-pink-orange issue though: I think this issue people have is that Dianese's version of red doesn't match red that you may have on your helmet. As long as you don't have red on any other gear then it looks fine.

Thank you for your kind words! And I agree on the color, if one wants the perfect color match, they they need a custom suit. Dainese will gladly take their money to make one.

Thank you for the kind words and the follow-up! On the black suit, how much heat buildup do do experience with the sun on a summer day? I’ve been tempted to get the 2pc LS4 as well, but sadly the perforated one is only available in black, and, since I get lots of hot sun in Texas, I’m worried it may be an oven. Thank you in advance!

TexMexStrada - like you, I live in a very warm climate in Australia. There is no doubt the black warm in summer but I also use a perforated mesh jacket and pants for the very hot weather or get out very early just after sunrise. I think irrespective of colour, the suit will get hot because It’s leather

Nice review. I have same suit in 2pc version, the fit is serious race fit, the 2 pc material is thick around stomach area due to top and bottom overlap and shoulder doesn't get the triaxial stretch benefits, regret not getting the 1 pc, If planning to buy 2 pc go for something more relaxed, now looking to size up as I became one size larger during lockdown 😂.

Thank you for watching and for your question! I use the Held Titan Evo gloves, also reviewed on here. They are a long gauntlet racing glove, and work ok with the suit. Their gauntlet has thick forearm protection padding, so it took a little bit to work itself out with the tip of the alarm armor, but after a couple weeks, it settled nicely. I hope this helps!

Hi! Awesome review, really. Just a couple of questions: 1) Which kind of back protector are you using? I have a Dainese Pro Armor G2 that fits into my jacket's dedicated pocket in the back. Will I be able to use that very same one with this suit? Or there's no dedicated insert and I need to buy one that straps around my chest? 2) I'm size 48 by size chart and I've tried one in a shop. It was a perfectly tight race fit. Will the addition of a back protector compress my chest more? Thanks a lot for this vid :)
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! 1) I use the Pro Armor stand alone back protector (non-G), very comfortable & actually improves air circulation. There is a clip in the suit to “hang” a protector but no pocket per-se, so I recommend a standalone one. 2) yes, the protector will take up space and make things tighter. The suit will stretch about 1/2 a size after wearing it for a while, so it is your call how tight you want it to be. If all the other dimensions of the 48 are perfect for you, then you may want to stick with that. If going to 50 still works for you in legs & arms then that will definitely be more comfortable. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your review of the suit. Dainese claims their elbow and knee armor to be CE Level 2 composite armor. Are the armored pads removable (i.e. can you take them off their inside pockets) and any chance you can show them or send me a picture of them via my website? Traditionally, composite armor from Dainese is the older CE Level 1 and they still continue to use CE Level 1 in their high-end gear, so interested to see what they've done here. Happy riding!
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! Elbow & knee armor is marked CE Level 2 on the tags in the suit. The armor is affixed to the leather and covered by fixed pieces of leather, so I don’t have a way to verify the markings on the protectors themselves. This also means they are non-removable unless you are willing to tear multiple seams to do so. In terms of feel, they are very thick, sturdy, and large, I have no reason to doubt the Level 2 certification. Actually none of the armor on the suit is replaceable, the shoulders and the hips are affixed to the suit liner, with the shoulder made out of 3 layers of thick foam (Level 2 on the tags) and the hips being a rubber and foam composite (Level 1 on the tags). I haven’t tested the effectiveness of the armor and I I hope I never will, but I can tell you I feel very very well protected in the suit. The size of the knee and shoulder armor is very reassuring, but you may find it interfering with taller than usual boots, or with gloves that have a lot of padding in the gauntlet. I have to properly align my Held Titan Evo gloves and the sleeve of the suit to make them work well, for example. I hope this helps!

@@TexMexStrada Thanks for your reply! Also saw your question on my SAS-TEC motorcycle armor video to which I will respond to now. Yes, Dainese tends to keep their knee and armor protectors sealed inside their pockets in much of its high-end apparel lineup. It's the same with the Racing 3 jacket , for example. It's a pity because I'm fairly certain that Dainese continues to use their composite armor (which is CE Level 1) but may have added padding to it to make it more impact absorbing and thus pass CE Level 2. I'm interested in actually seeing what they've done as I'm a bit of a geek in these things and Dainese has no available CE Level 2 "composite" armor to the public. Only its Pro Armor limb protectors are CE Level 2 but they're not composite armor. Dainese may have just gone with an in-house armor design only available to these suits, although the latest Super Speed 3 jacket also claims composite CE Level 2 elbow armor like in your Laguna Seca 4 suit (but, again, armor is not removable). Usually I would ask Dainese directly but I came across your video and wanted to hear from a user's point of view. Yes, Dainese's composite elbow and knee armor is very long and known to cause issues with fitting racing gauntlets over. I too have the Held Titan Evo gloves (which I reviewed on my website, one of the best gloves ever!) and those gloves have big gauntlets, yet not the easiest fitting over Dainese racing suits or jackets. Again, thanks for your reply!

Great review I’m currently looking at this and the assen model. Any opinion between the 2? Debating size as well. I’m 6’1 at 160lbs tall and slim. I always have trouble finding something that fits correctly. I believe I should be 52 or 54
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Assen vs LS4: Definitively the LS4. It is significantly superior in protection and comfort. Sizing: that is really tough to answer as your body shape and the ration of torso to inseam makes a big difference in fit. For me, at 5'10" the 50 is a tad too short in the torso, so if I was 6'1" I'd definitely go for the 54. Thought: Have you looked at Spidi suits? They have some of the best suits for folks who are tall & lean, and they have special sizing for folks who fall in that category. I seriously considered the Spidi Replica Piloti Wind Pro as well as, aside from the taco belly, I have a "Spidi body". Held also has special sizing available and their Slade suit just got a new version, meaning the "old" suit (still an excellent piece by all accounts) can be had for a great price. I hope this helps!

Hey I know this video is a year old but I was curious, what do you typically wear beneath this? Street clothes or an under suit? I'm wondering what is comfortable for commute riding with this.
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and thank you for your question! I wear Motoskeeveez, Dainese base layers, and a Dainese back protector underneath, and that’s about it as that is all that will fit. If you go up a size or two you may be able to fit some street clothes under, but I’d advise against using this suit for commuting as it is race cut, heavy, and has no pockets to speak of. If you want leathers to commute in, I’d recommend a two piece suit combo with full zipper connections & pockets. If you want a one piece made for having clothes underneath then Aerostich & Klim make some solid textile options. If I were to commute in this suit, my workplace would need to have a closet where I can keep clothes for the week and completely change for the ride. I hope this helps!

In northern Texas we see Temps much colder in the winters, single digits easily popping up. Would the perforated suit be comfortable with layers underneath it in cold weather?
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your follow-up! You’d need some wind blocking layers on top or under, and some thermals on your body. I rode up to Palo Duro Canyon by Amarillo last December, It was dry but overcast with temps around freezing and the typical “Texas Breeze” (20mph+ wind). Wearing rain gear on top of the suit, Dainese D-Core Thermals base layer, and a fleece mid-layer it was ok, but “refreshingly cool” after 2hrs at 75mph. This thing is really well ventilated/perforated, so wind blocking & heat retention in the winter is a little more challenging. Battery powered heated gear is probably the solution, but you will need a looser fitting suit to accommodate the size of power pack that will give you the juice to get the job done. On my naked bike at 70mph+, with just the LS4 and the Dainese D-Core Thermo and no heat from the sun I get cold after a while in temperatures below 55F, and it gets nippy below 60F. On the flip side, 100F is still decently comfortable with the Dainese D-Core Aeros under. I hope that helps!

@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! Really depends on where you carry your weight. Dainese's stuff is, in general, fairly slim, meaning it doesn't give you much room for extra mass. By your indicated height the 50 may be pretty decent in terms of length, but if you have big thighs, big arms, and especially big belly, then it is likely you may have fit issues. I am around 5'10"+ have thick thighs,narrow hips, moderate belly, 41"+ chest, narrower shoulders and semi-thick arms. For me, as described, the size 50 is a tad short for walking around comfortably, very very tight on thighs, comfortable around hips, tight on the belly, snug on my chest, and snug on my arms with about 0.5" too much length in the sleeves (due to narrow shoulders). And that is with only Dainese's D-Core Aero base layer underneath (super thin), as well as after extensive and patient breaking in. I think the biggest issue is my belly, if I lost that, it would give me another another inch or so of effective torso length (the material wouldn't have to work its way around my belly and rather just go straight down) allowing it to be more comfortable for walking around. But my thighs would still be super tight and the rest still snug. Hence I mention in the video that the 52 would probably have been the wiser choice in retrospect from an off-bike comfort perspective. But I do like the "second skin" feeling the 50 gives me on the bike. If you can order from a place that allows for free returns, then you can try a couple sizes and see if you can make it work. If you aren't generally slim, then you may want to look at some of the other brands that may work better for your body shape (AStars, Revit, Held all have great products). And of course there is always the custom suit option, which can get pricey, but generally cheaper than ending up buying multiple suits because you can't find the right fit the first time around. I'm sorry I can't give you a direct "buy this size" answer, but that answer really depends on your individual body and snugness-tolerance. For most manufacturers you will find good size charts on their respective home-country websites, and, obviously, utilizing centimetres for measuring gets down to more detail than measuring in inches. Use those measurements to ballpark it. For me my measurements corresponded to a variety of sizes, ranging from a 48 (hips) to a 54 (belly, thighs), but most the median result was right on the line between 50 and 52. Since I was primarily looking for a sug fit (race fit) on the bike, I went with the 50 instead of the 52. I also took into consideration that arms that are too long (i measured on the bottom end of 50 in terms of arm length from the neck) bother me more than thighs that are too tight (I measured on the upper limit of 54 there). I hope this helps!

It is a great suit. I ended up getting a heck of a deal on a Spidi suit, but had to go to a size 56 to get the right fit right out of the box. Thank you for your question! That is a difficult one to answer, as your body shape really makes a big difference. Here is my recommendation: #1: If you are more torso than legs, then you want to look at Spidi or another brand. If you have longer legs and a more compact torso, keep going down the list. #2: If you are more athletic build, take a look at Alpinestars or Rev'it. If you are average to narrow built, keep going down the list. #3: Look at the Dianese size chart here: www.dainese.com/us/en/motorbike/leather-suits/one-piece-suits/laguna-seca-4-1pc-leather-suit-201513456.html If you want a race fit (very tight) follow the guide. If you want a "comfort fit" meaning something you can walk around in with some level of comfort and putting it on & off will be easier, go up one size. I hope this helps!
