I’m really unsure with how I feel about Clay and Peril as a couple, but there’s no denying that it makes a really great storyline towards Peril’s character arc! I don’t think Tsunami and Riptide would work well as a couple due to their clashing signature character flaws. Tsunami holds unnecessary grudges for a long time and highly values honesty while Riptide often beats around the bush out of fear from the consequences of telling the dark truth which just makes things more complicated. At the same time, Riptide is very vulnerable to peer pressure and can easily get forced into doing things that stress him out while Tsunami takes full advantage of this and does it to him often even when there are safer alternative solutions. I don’t have a problem with the age gap between Glory and Deathbringer because I honestly don’t consider them to be dating right now. They’re just doing their roles as queen and captain of the guard. They might flirt and tease each other every now and then but there’s nothing official between then, but in the future when the age gap isn’t so severe they’ll probably get together for real. I believe Starflight and Fatespeaker actually make a near-perfect match due to being fantastic counterbalances towards each other‘s biggest character flaws. Starflight is often overly anxious with things and has trouble committing himself to a decision. Fatespeaker is a jumble of positive energy who is a perfect confidence booster for him because he’ll always be determined not to disappoint. Fatespeaker needs someone she can always rely on so she doesn’t force herself into denial thinking that those who bully her are actually her friends. Starflight isn’t the type to betray someone’s faith in him. Starflight is a simp for dragons like Fatespeaker and Fatespeaker is dependent on dragons like Starflight. These two otherwise unhealthy traits cancel each other out when combined. I admit I was rooting hard for Starflight to win Sunny over from Books 1 to 3. But then when I saw how supportive and observant Fatespeaker was in Book 4, I realized that Sunny hardly ever noticed Starflight’s good deeds. She immediately assumed that Starflight wouldn’t want to stop the war even without a prophecy when that was just outright wrong. Starflight did so much good throughout the books that Sunny overlooked, while Fatespeaker noticed every heroic feat Starflight did and even encouraged him to do more, saying she knew he was the kind of dragon who would always save the day. That’s what truly sold me on Starflight ending up with Fatespeaker instead of Sunny. Fatespeaker sees the best things about Starflight and knows how to bring them out. Sunny just doesn’t.

I agree with you and glorybringer is amazing. + In my headcannon I see the dragonets as 16 year old human sorta age, with them being supposed to wait 2 more years to be 18, and I see deathbringer as 18, a young super successful assassin. I mean, Quibli was an outclaw so... What's the difference?

Some of the arc one ships are TRASH, some are good, and some are AWESOME! They really do vary. I feel like arc one had an overwhelming amount of ships though. Practically every single DoD was in a ship and it was a bit too much, however some of the ships were pretty sweet. I agree with most of your opinions, though!

I feel like Blaze and Glacier woulda be iffy because Blaze has a child-like mindset and Glacier is more motherly and mature, I mean Glacier even has 3 dragonets while Blaze is still acting like one. I don't know Glacier's age for sure so I don't think this age gap is physical but it is mental, and also establishes a dependency on Glacier from Blaze. As you can see in the books Blaze doesn't really do much herself, especially in the war, because Glacier was the one protecting her and practically leading her army for her. I feel like Blaze and Glacier would work if Blaze was mentally older and a bit more mature but she really isn't, so it makes them look more like a mother and daughter.

I don't really like any of the ships apart from Starspeaker tbh. Cleril is unhealthy, and if they got together Peril would just rely on him for everything and lose all development she got. Ripnami is extremely boring, and I don't know why it even exists. Riptide doesn't have a personality, he was only thrown into the book to be Tsunamiʼs love interest and almost doesn't appear at all in later books, but we're supposed to believe they're in a relationship now. Glorybringer is the most rushed ship out of all of them, their banter is not cute but actually extremely annoying and I hate how Deathbringer is just a mindless simp for her. He has no personality other than “banter with Glory and protect Glory” now. Starspeaker is actually kind of cute tbh, their personalities mesh well and Fatespeaker really cares about him a lot.

Their relationship is in active progression throughout the books so i feel there’s definitely hope for them to get better at least. Other than that everything you said was spot-on! :0

Cleril in my opinion is probably my favorite Canon ship I don't know why but I really enjoy reading about them Ripnami felt forced it could have gone somewhere but it also didn't need to happen especially considering we rare if at all ever see it in the books Glorybringer is a good ship (not going to comment on age gap bc I think that we don't really know the mature rage of dragon ages in this series) it's definitely a fan favorite I can see why its nice to read about their interactions and when glory went to save deathbringer in the volcano was nice Starspeaker ngl I dislike this ship it feels forced onto starflight to make him stop liking sunny and when he went blind it felt like fatespeaker took advantage of that to stay with him after all her "visions" Sunnyflight I think it's cute I knew it probably wasn't going to happen the crush Starflight had on her was cute and thats what I'm going to say about it Sunny i feel like doesn't need a romantic partner she's great on her own

I feel like a lot of Wings of Fire ship reviews are solely based on personal bias. Ships in the series are pretty poorly written anyways, and are seen from VARIOUS different perspectives. Winter, Moon, and Qibli ships are a prime example of this. Unbiased ship reviews Wings of Fire-wise are pretty hard to find ((especially compared to Warriors ones)). I’d share my opinions on these, but those are littered with heavy bias ^^"

I get that this is just a ranking video ranking the ships but I really don’t want anyone to get too caught up on this. So of corse somehow Ive written an essay. Continue if you don’t value your time or would like to hear my opinion on this video. I don’t strongly disagree with the placements, exept in tems of compatibility I think Clay/peril should be lower as a romantic ship, but remain where it or be higher as as a friendship. Ace over here wondering if this maters so much that all the ships be ‘good’. I think that the mixed bag being realistic is just as if not more valuable. More specifically, by putting the quality of the ship first, you’re weighing the value of the ship way more heavily than the story does. It does seem that Tui feels forced that her characters all need have a romantic interest. However in the first arc only, It does not feel forced that that romantic interest needs to be a central element. At only one point in the first arc is a plot heavy action the POV character takes motivated largely by their own romantic interest. By my count, this is specifically Tsunamis learning the phrase “I will protect” in aquatic, and one could argue that while her learning it was directly caused by her romantic desire to stay with riptide for a moment, her learning any aquatic at all was something she wanted to do anyways, and was already actively in the process of doing. Clay was completely oblivious romantically, tsunami never makes large decisions Or goes out of her way for riptide, glory doesn’t act at large plot points romantically for deathbringer until she goes in the tunnels to save him from the volcano and it could be argued that she may have done that if she wasn’t romantically involved to save the rain wing queen also down there(I think that her romance with him made her resolve to rescue deathbringer unwavering even at risk of her own life, but if she hadn’t been romantically involved she would have felt obligated to try to rescue both a trapped rain wing queen and a friend who had been instrumental in her escape. However, if she hadn’t been romantically involved I do think she may have just ran when greatness did, putting her own life and the need to be alive for her remaining subjects over rescuing two more), and there is nothing starflight does specifically because he wants to send time with Fatespeaker. If you extended this to any time the 5 characters act regales of if they are pov, the only additional time is what I just mentioned glorys diving into the volcano. Sunny So as long as the ships aren’t driving the story, and they’re not actively bad, doesn’t it not really matter if they’re good? To expand on my opinions: I do think that it’s incredibly unhealthy for Peril to have as much an obsession with clay, and It’s true that we actually have no idea if clay likes her in the same way. Personally I believe he doesn’t. I feel like peril’s own book is a demonstration of how unhealthy that is. I do think that they should continue to have a friendship as long as they both value each other’s company, but they shouldn’t be together for real. I did not at all feel like riptide was there to take up pages. I felt like he was there so that the dragonets would have an ally who knew they ways of the new kingdom and could explain it/ show them around. This is the role that jambu and morrowseer/fatespeaker in the next two books, and riptide shares it in this book with anemone. He’s also there as an example of how queen coral isn’t perfect, but most importantly as a foil for whirlpool. I don’t believe tsunami fell in love with someone she just met. I believe she thinks he’s physically attractive like she’s stated multiple times, and I believe that he also thinks the same of her. It makes sense then that they met more off screen. And they may or may not have developed actual chemistry. But as the story stands why does it matter if they have or not. The book isn’t brought down by riptide. Don’t forget when he joined the talons, he didn’t know what they had done to the dod. He knew that they wre being raised somewhere safe by webs, but riptide didn’t know where or how. He could have and should have told her he was a part of them, but I understand why he hadn’t yet. I would not at all call him a traitor. I feel like to be an actual traitor he would have to do something. For example, if he was the one who told the TOP, who then told blister they were in the kingdom of the sea, or if he tricked them into a prison like peril or Coral did. He never actually even explicitly said he wasn’t with the talons. I had no idea about if deathbringer and glory’s ages are compatible or not, but I don’t think of the ship as “man thinks strong independent woman needs protection but actually doesn’t.” First off I think that originally(in books 3 and 4 specifically) he actually was a being sweet and concerned. And don’t forget she did get captured from something he could have stopped. And secondly, his continued overprotective behaviors seem a lot more purposefully goofy, like it’s a running gag. No, I don’t think its possessive at all. Glory is a literal actual queen, who’s primarily subjects are less than educated in combat. Deathbringer is legit doing an important job. Scarlet and burn could also take care of themselves, and yet they all still traveled with gaurds. Granted there was a war going on but there are still castle gaurds during peacetime, and all the time we see them together Scarlet is still alive and possibly sending glory vengeance dreams. No matter how good you are you could still always be overwhelmed, or something random could kill you when you least expect. Deathbringer would know, he’s an assassin. In fact glory should know too, for queen scarlet she was that thing. Glory’s entire arc is about letting people help her. As for the harassment I don’t have a fresh memory on this but also didn’t most of what could be considered harassment go in in the first book, when he was trying to stop her from poking her nose down a hole that would get her captured, while he was still desperately trying to not like her? I believe that when most of it happened but I could be wrong. Harassment is not ok in a relationship. I have no idea where you felt that it wasn’t foreshadowed that star flight liked sunny and that it was sprung up in book 4 last minute . Starflight longing after sunny is in every book. Sunny also always treats him like a friend in every book. So both of their reactions made total sense. I also wish that other people wouldn’t think that fatespeaker only serves to be sunny’s replacement for starflight and it’s cheap. Just because they have similar personalities? Sure they are similar in that they’d both rather talk than fight, but sunny is a lot more positive and resolute in her ideas, and explorative of the ways to make what she wants happen, while fatespeaker is more energetic and is lead around different ideas. When morrowseer attacks the dragonets in book1, fatespeaker would most likely have pleaded with him to stop, meanwhile Sunny remembered the vulnerable point and was able to end the attack. Sunny is a lot more of a leader than Fatespeaker, while Fatespeaker is more empathetic. In terms of the ship, Fatespeaker shows interest in starflight when sunny doesn’t. Isn’t it that simple that Fatespeaker is the better choice?

There are the examples of other fictional characters like Ocarina of Time Link immediately after pulling the Master Sword from its pedestal and is frozen in time for seven years, yet people still ship a character who is mentally a nine year old with Malon or Ruto. Then there’s the opposite issue when in Majora’s Mask where it’s the same Link, but people portray him as more mature due to Majora’s Mask is a result of Zelda sending Link into the past to relive the childhood he lost becoming the Hero of Time, having people give the character the mental maturity of an adult while in the frame of a nine year old child and people ship him with adult characters like Cremia or Lulu. Then there’s the Legend of Spyro games with its main ship between the titular protagonist, Spyro, and the only female character in those games (and only character his age), Cynder. Even though they are both the same age in the series, Malefor uses dark magic to age her up into a dragon around the age of the Guardians. Even then, people do ship Cynder while corrupted by Malefor with Spyro, which can be portrayed as problematic. However, the standard way people ship the characters is after the events of Dawn of the Dragon. Mental maturity sometimes doesn’t correlate with someone’s age sometimes in fiction.

Okay. You can hate me, but I’ll defend DeathBringer and Glory. Here’s why: Dragon years are strange. Let’s looks at age. Anemone is very young, a year to be exact. She’s 5 years younger than the dragonets. She has only a slightly younger mental age than the dragonets, meaning that within a SINGLE year, like dog, they mature quickly. Now a dragon is almost full grown at 7. There’s also the fact that dragons do not have human values. A 2 year old dog and a 6 year old dog can have puppies. Well so do dragons. Glory has the power in the relationship, not to mention the fact that she’s much smarter than him. I think DeathBringer is sweet (I’ve only read arc 1, I’m aware it can change) He’s protective, and is her guard, but SHE IS QUEEN. A queen being with her guard is unethical, maybe. But Glory is not in any danger, because her and DeathBringer are mentally close in age, and even physically. She’s basically 18 when they met, because she’s 7 years old at that point. He’s early 20s. Also. I just think Ripnami is cute for the same reason. The queens guard dynamic is cute.

I use to like glorybringer but really now I realise that it’s kinda toxic , wish it was less creepy too , I only shipped because well I love firefly’s design and glory is my favourite character. Maybe if tui made it different like having deathbringer respect her but still be a bit protective but in a way like he just cares for her Also if she doesn’t end up with deathbringer maybe she adopted firefly , she would probably do that)

I agree with a lot of you opinions especially ripnami but tbh the dod ships are really just bad in general I mean I feel most of them are just their just to be their love interest but here’s my take on the ships Cleril I’m neutral with the ship honestly I mean it’s extremely one sided I really think clay is aro lol or just doesn’t really understand love as much I mean she betrayed him just so that he could stay could stay with her I mean that is just obsession not love and I will say that clay was the first dragon to show her kindness and remorse really and peril feelings for him aren’t like cool to me I mean peril would probably do anything for him……like treat him like some god Imo im just saying clay and peril isn’t a very healthy ship really to me clay shows kinda no interest in her but probably only as a friend and also peril needs to really think about herself and self worth really tbh the cleril ship makes me uncomfortable cause of her obsession Ripnami you really took ripnami right out of my mouth their personalities don’t even clash I don’t think the shipping was necessary either tbh their screen really is just non existent to me and also it’s kinda like a outcast x Royal thing a so a forbidden love which I seen enough of it’s really undeveloped imo tbh it wasn’t necessary and I think tsunami being single would’ve been better Glorybringer…………okay I get that the age gap was mistake but still through the naked eye it isn’t appealing to most people yes we shouldn’t compare dragons to humans but still it can make others uncomfortable my friend made the comment the age was a mistake just to make Royal hybrids lol I mean she fell in love with a dragon who literally tried to kill her friends literally also he kinda stalks glory a bit but honestly I strongly dislike this ship I really didn’t want glory to get a love interest at all though the interactions are cute the ship still makes me uncomfortable also I agree with you a lot with your glory bringer points! The arc one ships were just not written well lol. Despite that a do like a few of them bc of the characters involved mostly. Cleril weirds me out tbh. It’s just Peril obsessing over Clay and it’s weird since he doesn’t seem to even reciprocate the feelings ( interpreted I have no clue if that’s cannon or not ). For Tsunami, I think it could have gone either way. I wouldn’t have minded if they kept her single, but I do quite like her ship and I think their cute together and I wish they had more page time. Definitely up there In my top 3 ships for some reason even tho most people don’t like them. Glorybringer I don’t like. Even before I knew about the ‘age gap’ and all that drama ( put quotation marks bc apparently the ages aren’t cannon anymore? I don’t honestly know). But like I said, before I heard about all that, I thought both characters were annoying ( Glory is overrated and don’t even get me started on how much I hate DB). I just thought the banter was annoying and really out of character for Glory to like that but oh well. Starspeaker works as a ship and I’m numeral on it. I don’t like Fatespeaker so that’s mostly why. She feels like Walmart Sunny to me lmao. Sunny should be an aroace icon ( yes I know they have a ship planned for her but idc). Sooo unpopular opinion: Qinter that is all thats not all i was lying i have very mixed feelings about Ceril i think it is an unhealthy relationship for both of them if its forced, because Scarlet abused Peril and made her think she need someone else to make her descions, this makes her clingy and might make her unable to leave the relationship behind, Secondly Clay needs space and time to himself Peril would need him to do everything for her. in conclusion Peril needs to spend time alone or with timid dragons so she can make her own desions

I honestly think that the Glorybringer age gap isn't as big of a deal as people make it. If I can remember correctly, they are around 6-7 years apart. In human society that, to me, is an acceptable age gap between two people dating each other. I still think it should be retconned because Deathbringer doesn't seem as old as he supposedly is, but I think people make a bigger deal out of their age gap than they should.

Dudeee Clay and Peril is my least fav ship! Clay even shows many signs of not liking or understanding her back! He EVEN PRETENDS to tolerate her out of pity and kindness, but in many cases shows discomfort with her obsession and never had clear signs of reciprocating romantic feelings to her. I feel like it would be a good character development for her to get over him and find someone else, someone more healthy for her. Same with Clay, since he is a sweetheart and deserves to love someone who he can feel fully comfortable with. It feels very overrated to me.

I* also have to disagree on Ripnami only because I am a sucker for loser x badass. He is very hesitant and fearful, but as shown becomes inspired and admires tsunami's bravery and forwardness. He takes inspiration from her and grows more confident and brave, since he becomes a leadership role in later books. I am also a huge fan of meeting in secret and innuendos. Sure, we don't get to SEE everything, but the book isn't about their relationship. I admire that Tui leaves their secret meetings up for interpretation, we get to fill in those gaps with our imagination and build that friendship/relationship ourselves without getting too off track the main story. As for Deathbringer and Glory, I personally have mixed feelings. My original interpretation of them was probably similar to Tui's intentions when writing them. I do not think that she intended for their ages to not line up perfectly, however I can see them working for various reasons. Glory had to grow up too fast. She was forced to be more mature, calm and critical-thinking at a young age from living underground. ALSO she became a literal queen in this time as well. I enjoy their queen-guard dynamic and the flirty/unbothered trope is cute. I think that their age gap is not significant enough to their characters and I also believe it was a plot hole that was unintentional/made into a much bigger deal from the fandom. For the first few books I loved Sunny and Starflight, but in retrospect feel bad for both of them. She saw everyone as family, including him. Starflight's affections for her were so one sided. HOWEVER I also grew to dislike Fatespeaker. She felt like an oc. She was trying too hard, maybe. I disliked how much she was fighting for him to like her and she felt like a total rebrand/rebound of Sunny. I grew to like it a bit more when I noticed how caring and stuff she was, but it felt like Starflight had to force himself to like her and only did so because of how much she reminded him of Sunny. Overall, arc 1 ships are alright and feel pretty genuine. They all have their own ups and downs but I can't help but the way I feel for most of them since I'm pretty critical when it comes to character analysis and dynamics.

- I hate cleril, their relationship is a little… off. Like you said peril kinda just uses clay as a free therapist. I also feel like peril isn’t a good person to be in a relationship with. -Ripnami is toxic. Riptide (like you said) is working for the people who are trying to keep them in the mountain, contained for 2 more years. They are basically enemies. -Starspeaker is my personal favorite ship because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how when Starflight loses his eyesight, Fatespeaker helped him out whenever Starflight needed her help. -Sunny is a break from all these relationships. Sure some of them are so cute like Starspeaker, Blicket, etc. but it’s just nice to not have EVERYONE in a love relationship. Edit: oops I forgot glorybringer. I have no opinion on them tbh

Peril and clay is amazing because Clay makes Peril a better dragon and clay wouldn't be alive if it weren't for Peril Ripnami is my fav ship and they are like opisites atract, in my opion its a fine ship Glorybringer is fine because dragon age differcences are different from humans and its all fantasy so anyone who points out the age gap i don't care because its all fantasy! and deathbringer just has such a strong love for Glory that he doesn't want to lose her and probly has no family left as for sunnyflight sunny loves starflight but as a brother and starflight needs Fatespeaker Blister and Morrowseer I dont ship cuz it'd just not be intresting enough its like two of the same person Blaze and Glacier is fine honestly I just see it as a joke though

I don't care for any of the arc one ships. Cleril and Glorybringer are just meh. Cleril is the better of the two, but both Peril and Deathbringer are a bit too obsessive. Ripnami doesn't feel like it's going to work out in the end at all. Tsunami seems just a little abusive. Starspeaker is the WORST! Fatespeaker can go die painfully in a hole, she is so annoying. She doesn't deserve anyone, especially not Starflight. And Sunny seems just a little not straight, possibly Aeroace. The only ships I really care about are Clearsight and Darkstalker in the beginning of their relationship, and Jambu and Pineapple, as it's new and untainted and gay and they seem so cute together.
