Def like the idea that the tribes have subtle changes within them. For me, the best ones are Seawings (Different areas of the ocean), Silkwings (Fluffy moths subtribe), Nightwings (After living in the rainforest for a while), and Leafwings (Poison/Sapwings if the war had lasted longer or smth idk).

I don't know why but I've been making tribes based on different types of dragons (Wyrms, Wyverns, Hydras, etc), and My Hydra one is also based on siphonophores, like Portuguese Man O' Wars and stuff. Siphonophores are deep sea creatures made of small multicellular lifeforms that make up a larger creature. Basically this "dragon" is made up of Thousands or Millions of Plankton sized Dragon like creatures that fuse into this giant dragon. There are only a few of them in existence, and they are extremely large when combined, making them both the largest and smallest dragons. The hydra part comes because it has multiple heads, one for each dragon.

I actually made a subspecies for Seawings called Reefwings. The have more of a wyvern like anatomy, no front legs, and as the name implies they live in large coral reefs. They are inspired by manta rays and have generally an easy going lifestyle. Their primary skill color is of dark light and bright blues, but there is also a mix of a few other colors to help them blend in with the coral of the reef like home.

Few ideas for sub-tribes for other people to expand on: Nightwings that live in close to pitch darkness, probably look similar to bats, or the Deepseawings. - Seawings that live almost entirely in swamps, probably look like mudwings, or just more greenish-yellow. - Icewings that have adapted to flat, iced over oceans with no cover from chilling winds, maybe bigger, or with some equivalent of blubber to help with catching scarce prey in the ocean without freezing. Maybe give the sub-tribes a reason to not return to the main area. Like how the Nightwings' eyes became so sensitive to light that leaving the caves they live in is painful. Or how the Icewings got lost during flight on a mission, and got stranded on the flat stretch of ice, forcing them to adapt.

Deeps Seawings Description: They have no wings but have fins along the back. They are lager than normal seawings and are approximately 1.4 times bigger. They larger eyes but cannot see colors well and are very sensitive to light. Their bioluminescent scales aren't as bright as normal seawings. They big teeth like most deep sea creatures. Their scales are easier to puncture than normal seawings. Their scales are shades of red or black. They squids, whales and jellyfish. Abilities: They swim relatively fast and with their big teeth it is easy to catch squids and whales. Queen: Unknown

They look great! I actually do have a sub tribe variant that I made. This is a rainwing sub based on tropical rainforests. Basically, they have longer and droopier frills behind their ears, are mainly shades of reds to light greens, smaller wings since rainforests are more compact and have lots of vines, so they mainly climb and swing from tree to tree, webbed feet because of the amount of rivers and flooding in the area (no gills), and they all have some sort of flower or other plants stuck to them from how damp they are. They mainly have rainforest names like Calla (for a Calla Lily flower) (yes I named a tropical rain forest rainwing sub oc of mine Calla) The tribes not fully done yet, but I’m working on them :)

You could make an overall new tribe! Such as MothWings, Slothwings, Or Cowwings! I’ll give a lil info on each of them: MothWings, MothWings are colored like moths, And look like a mix between silk wings and moths, and their behavior is they are kind, but they sleep during the day, They are nocturnal and eat fruits and plants. They live in the forest Slothwings,Slothings are very fuzzy, and soft, They have a build like rain wings, But they don’t have venom, and they have longer claws. They are very slow, even when flying. They sleep a lot of the time, and live in a second rainforest. CowWings, CowWings are the build of a mudwing,Sandwing mix. They come in black and white, Yellow and white, Green and red, and more. They eat plants, and they have extra long horns to use as their secret weapon, And instead of talons, they have hooves, They cannot see we’ll, but they have excellent smell and hearing. I've always had this idea of a subtribe of seawings that is much more animalistic, unable to form communities or communicate very well. They'd act kinda like sharks, and not have bioluminesent scales at all (they split off before those were evolved). Imagine how creepy it would be to find a creature that looks so simmilar to you and yet acts as thought it were a wild animal, and even creepier if you were a mind read and felt no thoughts coming from it at all. It's not like their holding skyfire where you can still hear a slight hum, just nothingness.

Coral seawings are a hybrid tribe combination of rainwings and seawings Also they can have different patterns that match the fish among them and a distinct call like orcas And they have fins with long spines like a lionfish they literally look like multicolored lionfishes with strange patterns hence why I added the venom like rainwings but instead of in their teeth it's in their scales literally whatever they touch gets dissolved and it can also poison the water around them if they are mad their spines also grow longer when this happens only other coral seawings are immune to their poisons

Sky wings and sand wings. Maybe called viper wings live deep in the caves and live with vipers are immune to the vipers poisons scale. Colors are mostly red or mostly yellow and have the pattern on their wings that pearl has.?

I would love to see a mudwing variant that specializes in caves, tunnels and gems. I've always interpreted mudwings as more of an "earth dragon" instead of just swamps, and would love to see more done with the idea! Their entire royal palace could be underground. They could have vestigial/no wings because they're adapted to subterranean life and don't need to fly. They could be called EarthWings, or CaveWings and have powers like sensing oncoming earthquakes (or even be strong enough to make earthquakes themselves!). I'd imagine their naming schemes would be based off of gemstones, rock types and formations, or animals that live in caves. (And I'm just now realizing how awkward it would be to call a subspecies ___Wings, if they doing have wings AT ALL, so maybe they, and all subspecies should at least have remnants of wings so the "-wing" part of the tribe name is still relevant) This video reminded me of a fantribe I made for a wof fanfic I never got around to writing. It was a SeaWing offshoot I called TideWings. Basically, I looked at the map and asked myself; "why is the seawing kingdom ONLY in the bay of a thousand scales? Shouldnt the seawing kingdom be the BIGGEST in the world, spread through out ALL of the ocean?" My in-story explanation for this was, there was an attempt. My oc princess tidepool wanted to peacefully inherit the throne from her mother and start a new tradition of a peaceful transfer of power between heirs, thus branding the seawings as the most civilized tribe, but a jealous sister killed the queen before said queen could make the law. Tidepool and her supporters then left the bay as a sign of protest, setting up a new kingdom on the western coast, and founding a new tribe called TideWings in honor of merciful tidepool, but the new SeaWing queen didnt want any competitors or her own dragons abandoning her for the new peaceful kingdom, so she had all the TideWings hunted down and executed to kill any rebellions, and afterwards punished anyone from leaving the bay by declairing them deserters or traitors. Overtime, this mindset of "all seawingns belong in they bay or else" kinda stuck, and no one tried to expand their territory since. My TideWings werent exactly a subspecies, as they never really got to evolve any unique features thanks to the dragon slaughter and all, but it was a un world building exercise~

I have also made something that’s kinda like these but with different details. Such as they have small wings that cannot be used to fly due to larger wings being hard to move underwater, much brighter bioluminescent scales and more of them, a large smooth fin going all around there body, small lure like things connected to the side of their heads that glow all the time. Oh also an idea for a sea wing variant, a arctic sea dragon ( okay I’m gonna end this comment before it becomes too long )

I’ve come up with a bunch of subtribe names I guess. Your choice to use them/what to do with them. Midnightwings (After years of Rainwings and Nightwings being in the rainforest together, they eventually make a new tribe/sub-tribe.) Desertwings (Y’know how Sunny was a hybrid? Well, what if that continued and made a new sub-tribe?) Tundrawings (Darkstalker and Whiteout being half Icewing and half Nightwing was a cool idea, especially since the colours clashed nicely. What if that just continued and made another sub-tribe?) Voidwings (I don’t have an idea for how this sub-tribe could’ve happened, but the name sounded cool so I added it. Basically they are literally as dark as a black-hole, and no amount of light can make them even nearly look like a Nightwing.) Sunwings (Basically, if an Icewing made offspring with a Sandwing. Would probably be more of a pale emerald-green colour. ) Sparklewing (They can be any of the normal tribe’s colours, but be flecked with sparkly pieces of colour. Depending on where they are I think. Eg: some closer to Skywings could be more reddish pink, and if they’re near Icewings, whiteish blue. The flecks would probably be opposites, like, one that is all red with blueish white flecks.) Blueberrywings (At this point I’m just making these up and giving them no background.) Laurelwings (Yep, the background generator stopped working.)

Maybe a tribe of mine called a lightwing? They have antenna withe a bulb of light and their tail also has a lightbulb on them. It’s a small ball that they can choose to turn on and of. They are known to be really smart, cautious, and a scrollworm. The tribe is also known to be almost made up of animus dragons. There are so many that the leader has asked every dragon to ask and state before leaving. This way, she knows that they are safe. They are like the icewings, and can withstand subzero temperatures. Yet they are also like the sandwings. Able to withstand anything (except the water. THEY CAN STILL DROWN! And die in a battle) they are one of the most powerful dragons. Their kingdom is unknown, but is rumored to be huge. As I mentioned before, they have leaders, not queens. If it is time for a new leader, there will be a vote. Any dragon can be voted for, and no one in centuries had either chosen theirselves or killed to rule. I think it would fit! They have large wings and can be any color. Let me know if you want to use mine please. ❤❤
