Great the hear from you my friend. I grew up in SW Scotland in the 1970's and in our village we had several familes from Rhodesia, mostly without males as they where still defending their land. I grew up with stories of Rhodesia and the biggest memory trigger is the accent...you still have much Rhodesian in your voice and i find that...comforting? My stepfather, ex British Army was also over there as a volunteer for about 2 or 3 years. I dont miss him, a good soldier but not so much as a parent.

5RR So glad to hear from you again. And you can bet that many will be praying for you and yours. I enjoyed this tale today as much as your memories of the Bush wars. I became politiaclly aware of the world in the mid 1970's. As I hale from the USA, Vietnam was coming to a tragic end as well as the Rodesian bush wars, bad times indeed. You mentioned being in the injection molding buisness which is sitting idle at this time and the inability to get raw material's. May I ask what you manufacture and of what material's? And also have you considered moving out of Arfica at all? God bless from the USA.

You are charitable to view people whom you meet for a few seconds or minutes as being more than ok types as in my experience most people conform to social expectations in public, but when under pressure they aren't so reasonable. Sure, there are always some nice people, more or less, everywhere. I guess it's good & wise to qualify & balance statements when pointing out problems among certain sectors of society.

Glad to see your well and I hope things improve. Was in hospital recently and started to chat with a chap who I over heard mention Rhodesia. He seemed bit surprised i knew anything about the country, a lot of it from yourself and reading I’ve done because of things you’ve mentioned. He showed me some photos he had on his phone and as he was rather distinctive it was clear it was him in the photos. He was with HQ SF one of his roles was as a mag gunner and he had photos of this and other things. In one photo he was on a plain with knee high grass and he said he hated that type of land as anyone waiting for you could clearly see you coming. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name.
