Just wanted to comment and say Thanks! Thanks for taking the time to post this! My 2011 2SS did not come with a fob so I ordered the one you suggested, hoping the FCC ID was the same for my car. Once I received it, I had my local locksmith cut the blank to match my current transponder key and, to my suprise, it worked grea! The fob unlocks/locks the car, the trunk pops, the horn button worked, and the remote start even works!!! So happy to have a fob now and an extra key!!!

And now the unlock and lock buttons work randomly. Should of gone with an OEM key fob, these knock off ones are bad

I can't believe how easy this was. I have a 2012 ZL1 and only had 1 Key & Fob, I bought a new replacement Key & Fob on eBay which guaranteed if I sent a pic they could cut a new matching key. It came yesterday and wow the key worked. Thanks to your video it took under 10 seconds to program the fob and it locks/unlocks. Total cost was 39 dollars, Thanks

Bro. thank you so much. I washed my fob and it triggered the anti theft mode. Thought I was gonna have to get my car towed and and reprogrammed. After letting my fob dry in rice. I tried this method to see if maybe my car would recognize the key. It started right up.

Is it the same process if I have a recall key? My key fob is so messed up the last owner had the recall key because the switch key had came off.

OK here’s my problem I have a 2013 Chevy Camaro. Of course you know there was a recall on the key fobs they give you back a regular key with a fob that doesn’t have a key in it. Well I bought my car used so there was no fob just two keys, so I bought a key fob on eBay but I don’t know if that number that’s inside that key fob is what is for my car or not so if I have the key in this key fob cut I wonder if it’s gonna work or not what do you think??

Please don’t misinform people when you don’t have the correct knowledge about cars. I used your method and followed you exact steps and now not only does my new key not work but my old key is disabled as well. Had to tow my car to dealer and pay arm and leg to fix it, I am not happy at all. Please people don’t listen to this guy and end up messing your car.

So, the key fob I ordered works, my problem is.... well for starters, the uncut key vs the actual cut key the was a tiny difference in length, so I just swapped the whole piece as one...... but now my key doesn't actually pop out you gotta coax it out and back in place. I made sure the button aligned as it is supposed to be and aligned the spring as it should be as well.

I have a 2010 Camaro and both of my factory key fobs wore out. I bought 2 new ones from eBay and had my dealership laser cut the blades. I tried your method to program the new keys but it's not working? Do I have to actually use the old blade in the new fob? Very confused. Thank you in advance!

Bobbi Peck you can use the newly cut blade in a new fob, or an old blade in the new fob. If you do NOT have a key & fob that is already programmed, this method will not work. this is the "spare key" method. Mine didn’t work. I had a new key made and it worked but the button broke so I swapped the guts from a switchblade key fob (one wherethe key fell out a while ago) But now it doesn’t start. It does unlock the car tho

Both links say that the keys are uncut. I'm really looking for them to already be cut because I don't like the dealership in my town and the next closest is almost 2 hours away. Any way the link could be wrong?

I just saw yesterday afternoon that someone is advertising the service on Ebay if you buy the Keyfob from him. I believe he wants $29 to do up the key in the fob for customers plus what ever he gets for the Fob of which I have no idea. I believe he needs the tag number that comes with the keys from GM. I have it on one of our Fobs we haven't used since I purchased the car new. Still in my situation having 2 good keyfobs I won't over spend on getting another 2 Fobs done up. Only thing that enticed me was the cost of 2 Fobs with blank keys for under $20 I saw Advertised on Ebay. I figured I would buy the 2 for spares and take out the blanks and be able to take the blanks to be cut somewhere reasonably. 38 years in the Auto Parts Business as a owner and retired now tells me many are charging way to much to cut one of those keys today. Can't see spending that kind of money when I really don't need to. Its unbelievable what they want for labor anymore. Everyone is greedy out there. They want to make a homerun on every sale. Not on me if I could help it.

If its not on the factory key fob, You could go to the parts department of your local chevy dealership and they can find it for you.

Yes, you can cut the keyblade out of the recall key and put it back into the FOB.

The best way is to buy replacement fobs online, then when they arrive, call local dealerships for prices to have the keys cut.... I JUST had to do this for my '12 ZL1, and one dealership only charged me $25 to cut the blank key in the new key fob.

Can someone let me know where you can get these new keys cut reasonably? I am hearing all kinds of crazy amounts they are asking to cut them and most places won't cut them if you didn't buy the key that comes in your new Fob from them. Read just the other day that Ace Hardware will cut them for you but my local Ace hardware told me no unless you buy the key from them. Heard the same about Loews and Home Depot. They all want to make a Home Run on you and go home for the rest of the day . Unfriggen real.

Maybe I should of explained a little more. I have 2 working Keyfobs for my wife's 2011 Camaro. They are like brand new. For a matter of fact the 2011 Camaro is like brand new also. It sits with my collector cars in my Pole Barn. It only has 385 miles on it. I came across the advertisement on Ebay for the 2 brand new Keyfobs for under $20. I figured what the heck being it would give us 2 more like factory Keyfobs plus keys. You never know when you are going to lose one and the price was right. I just don't need the hassle of running around trying to get keys cut I don't really need and refuse to over pay for cutting them. Just want to get a idea of what the different costs are out there to just cut these 2 keys. In other words I want to know the cost before preceeding. I also would like to know who will cut them out there since Lowes,Home Depot and now I hear Ace Hardware will not after hearing they do because they didn't get to make the sale on the Keyfob with blank key. I guess thy are not happy with the fact they would be making something on labor which would only take minutes. I will remember all 3 of them for this.

Nani Pappu I just did that with my '12 ZL1. Had 2 "keys" and 2 fobs.. just got blank key blades and had the dealer cut them, then popped them into the fobs. Done.
