What did you notice about the car that made you change this part? Overheating? Leaking coolant from the back of the engine?
@OhTheHermanity5 жыл бұрын
so it actually ended up being the oil pan that was leaking. The oil pan gasket is riveted to the oil pan and one of the rivets was right above the oil cooler. So it LOOKED like the oil cooler gasket was leaking. But it was in fact a factory design flaw with the rivet on the oil pan. It's a really dumb design. Hope that helps!

Thanks. I’ve been trying to track down a leak behind the driver side tire. I will check my bolts before I remove the cooler.
@RoadWarrior775 жыл бұрын
It has been a common problem that the oil coolers themselves crack. Best thing to do is replace the factory oil cooler with an aftermarket one and block off the coolant lines. If you have long tube headers on, the factory oil cooler does not work very well, as the headers are right by the oil cooler.
@isnowyazn Жыл бұрын
Welp, I tried this, but it seems like the oil cooler surface, or the mount and feed that it goes to, onto the block, might be warped. It looks like it might even be leaking through one of the bolt’s threads.
@markgreenwood75837 жыл бұрын
Wondering how much you torqued down the bolts on the cooler and to the block. Good video and thanks for the info.

So I had some type of liquid leaking by the front driver side of the axle frame. At first I thought it was oil from motor or the transmission. And I end up realizing it was actually the radiator upper hose. Because you see the radiator upper hose. Is right close to the cool air intake.. and I tried cleaning the CAI One day, and while I was taking the cool air intake box (by the way this is bone stock CAI) I took the 2 clips that keep the cover of the air intake close, and when I tried to remove it. I pushed the cover of the CAI against the radiator upper hose causing a damage to the hose. This might help someone of you people. What I did. Since I didn't wanted to do much on the Camaro. I wrapped tape. It was good more a while. But since the motor produces heat waves under the hood. The heat penetrated on the tape. Causing the tape to loosen up and not sticking to well... This might help some of y'all. Cuz I to me it looked like oil but it's not... it's actually antifreeze that kinda looks similar to oil.

What is the probability of an oil leak from the cylinder head gasket on a 2011 camaro ss L99? I changed the valve cover gaskets but still a week later I found oil coming from somewhere behind the engine ... No oil signs under round inspection cap.. Could you please advise :(
@ivansotelo8163Ай бұрын
I'm dealing with same thing. I was told it was the oil cooler gasket.. now im thinking if its the oil pan.

Our 2011 camaro has sprung a tiny oil leak. We just figured it was the chevy drip. However. With recent oil changes. I am starting to notice that with full oil... it drips. It's like a watery oil mixture though... so could it be this referenced in the video? Regardless my tire shop is gonna replace the gaskets for me next oil change. So does antifreeze and oil run through the cooler?

Yes, I found the solution, which is that I installed an oil cooler for an additional gearbox, and it is 40,000 units. You can try that and the problem will be solved.

like I don't understand why GM literally put a radiator upper hose like really close to the CAI....... Does GM not see that you can just easily all the time risk that moment of damaging the uper radiator hose..... I see other vehicles such as Dodge and they have the upper radiator hose like way far apart from the cool air intake.
@OhTheHermanity5 жыл бұрын
I actually recently beefed up my Camaro to 600 HP. All engine 🤗. We did new heads, cam, intake, exhaust. Anything and everything to really make that LS3 engine scream and we actually bought a relocation kit for the upper hoses to brings then down the left side of the engine. Its a sweet kit!
