SU song selection gave them the edge; but FAM sounds sooo damn good….Great musicianship showed by both programs. You can tell what bands SU prepares for
@ZebraLens3 жыл бұрын
13:03 FAMU coming right in playing "Anniversary" reminds me why FAMU has historically been our top music program in producing band directors and other musicians. Even growing up in Alabama we always knew if you were in band and wanted a career in teaching it, then you went to FAMU. Not taking anything away from other schools, but just giving credit where it's due.
@iamkelotv95123 жыл бұрын
First off you must be young fam (under 33) because nobody from my era ever thought about going to famu for teaching. When all the Bham teachers was homegrown MMW or State… second u MMW🤔 ⚡️FL 96 MMW over here…

The first song is the song the famu football head coach conducts whenever they win the game. Not part of the 5th. Not here to snap on anyone just clarifying

From an insider point of view 100 1989! This battle is really good, the arrangements were perfect for each Bands style which is obviously Night and Day, Famu plays with several different blowing techniques which gives you that LIKE NO OTHER BAND SOUND, which is why we say THE DIFFERENCE IS CLEAR. Southern for their style to me is the BEST in THEIR style of playing. Their arrangements seem to have more thought out into it which allows them to maximize their instrumentation. I feel both Bands did great, and not that I’m biased because I’m 100! But that difference, tone, intonation, accuracy, pitch, phrasing, and balance gives 100! That edge to win this Battle.

On southern second u can watch the snare section leader go off on the bass and tenor section leaders cuz they got off tempo but they recovered afterwards lol Im a su fan they just gotta clean it up a lil. They still took the dub 💯both bands sounded great overall sound a1

I loved Famu style and in my personal opinion i think they took 2 rounds but SU took all the other rounds. I expected a better product from the marching 100. Alcorn and SU was hands down the best battle this year so far.

I know this is going to be taken the wrong way but… FAMU sounds like lightly seasoned chicken. Nothing is wrong with that, if that’s what you like. But they don’t really make me feel anything. Its like, whew do you feel the heat from that paprika! I know they are from Florida so maybe they are aiming for the cruise-ship vibe. A general enjoyment feel. It’s not my preference. 😂😂😂 Stop the lies. Understood if you are unimpressed because I felt the same about SU, but PWI. Lies. HBCU love.
@wellsincewerehere7733 жыл бұрын
@@muckville9195 we can agree to disagree because they sounded just like Troy band the band that applauded SU as they blew out that stadium. What makes famu so pwi is the same thing with r&b. Hbcu have soul and u feel it in music anything else is just a poor attempt at trying to duplicate it even if it sounds good it’s missing that soul. No chords, harmonies, well placed articulation but no impact is dead and useless. That’s just our opinions and that goes for any school. If music doesn’t evoke emotion what good is it. If I have to listen hard to figure out what you playing it’s lost on me. If you playing live instruments and they sound like pre recorded elevator music 🎶 ijs.

Comments like this make me wonder if y'all actually have seen PWI bands. Most of them sound nothing like FAMU
@wellsincewerehere7733 жыл бұрын
@@KevinLeroyGrant this is old news at this point but, the point is they sound bland like watered down music. For most people they sound good and that's a fair assumption. But to musicians I don't see the musicianship they're capable of.
