You can but it has several problems. When troops placed over objects like walls or buildings, some end up on the roofs, others just vanish. So you lose troops trying. The AI isn't the best either. Sometimes a wall is an impassable object, others the ground troop just glitches onto the roof to attack. Oh and you set up your troops on the map, being ultra precise in troop placement is not easy as you cant do it in the battlefield screen

I’m not convinced the predator and the alien army wouldn’t wipe each other out before the battle even began.

Strange, if not bizarre "human" army. There are automatic weapon riflemen and large contingents of swordsmen mixed with artillery and mechanical machine guns. It is a crazy blend of 12th and 21st centuries. However, the greatest defensive weapon is unused--the castle. The artillery could be inside with the ramparts loaded with machine guns mowing the enemy down from 100s of yards away. The artillery could devastate the enemy before it got within a mile of the castle, raining down cluster ammunition relentlessly.

Alien blood alone would be extremely devastating, not to mention one predators arm device. As for the zombies, depending on what virus causes their entirety, that would be debatable. One predator ship could make a hole in the line up as well ass spraying any of that blue liquid that melts away any biological trace. The combat alone would not work for how compact they are. In other words, it is not even remotely theoretically possible. It's fun to watch, though.
