To the Hewitt Family and Friends, My condolences go to out to you for this terrible loss. I was entertained and educated by his youtube channel's videos and learned a lot from him and the fellow maintainers at the PowerStrokehelp maintenance facility. He will be dearly missed. I never met the man, but from what I witnessed, he was a great man, a great educator, a great father, and a great friend to everyone. Sincerely. -pdx650

To all at Power Stroke Specialty and the Hewitt family, I am so sorry for your loss. Though I never met Bill, I had dreams of one day finding an old 6.0 and taking it to him to get refurbished. I have an old 7.3 and learned so much from him about how to care for it. I watched all his videos and each month couldn't wait for the latest "trucks for sale" edition to drop. I must say I am a little in shock -- it felt as if I knew the man after watching him for so long. I think there are many others like me, and we grieve with Bill's friends and family. May God comfort you during this time. Blessings from Texas.

So glad I picked up a dealer-proofed 6.0 from Bill. It’s still running like a top, 5 years later. I’ve took mine across the country four times, and use it as my daily driver. Got 21mpg on my way to NC this past weekend. I’ve also been using the Archoil faithfully. Yeah, screw the new diesels; I’ll just revamp my truck every few years or buy some add ons or upgrades and just keep on driving it.

Rest in peace, Bill. I can't count the amount of times your videos helped me out. I still have the first Ford diesel I ever bought....a 1987 6.9. I have a 1990 7.3 IDI, a 1997 F350 PSD, and a 2016 F450 PSD. I've had at least 6 others that I can remember. Your videos helped me with all of them in one way or another. What a tremendous loss to all of us.

When the 7.3 DI came out in ~1993, they chewed through injector seals and dumped a bunch of rubber in the fuel filter bowl. Even engines with < 100 miles were skipping or not running at all. All we had to do is replace seals and clean out the fuel bowl. Now, the slightest contamination costs $10K. That is crazy. I love diesels but realistically they just plain cost too much to touch.

The 7.3 di engine came out in mid 1994, in fact 7.3 idi was availble na or turbo in 1993, in 1994 you could get the 7.3 idi turbo and non turbo as well as the 7.3 powerstroke

I bought a 2018 ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi, and put a small tune and pipes on it. Fastest truck I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned tuned 6.0s and duramax trucks. Smooth truck, and really cheap to work on compared to a diesel. Have had no problems, trans. Services every 30k and oil changes every 4k. Pulls my 12,000 lb skid steer and 3 attachments, plus car trailer (total weight 15,000) around just fine. Probably won’t ever buy a diesel again.

That is why I keep my 7.3 trucks. IMO the 7.3 is the best engine ford ever used. I meticulously maintain them and still yet to have one leave me on the side of the road. The extra power and creature comforts that come with the 6.7 just doesn't justify the cost...for me anyway.

I’m sorry to be the person delivering this news if you’re seeing it for the first time. Bill passed away this past week. Archoil posted a dedicated message on their Facebook page in his honor. Also, I’m friends with the service advisor on Facebook (Scott) and he had shared the information for his calling hours (today on 10/21/23). I figured that I’d at least say something, in case nobody posted something on his KZbin channel. Anyways, I loved this man and he worked on my truck a few times when I lived in Savannah. I met Bill, Dana, Pascal, Mikey and Scott. All good good people. I’ll miss Bill dearly. God rest his soul.

Had my late 99 7.3l for almost 25 years now still runs beautiful pulls 20,000 lbs doesn't get the best mileage doing it. But the only things I've done were the ARE intake and 4-in banks exhaust on the banks turbo stuff downpipe whatever. Super reliable I love the manual hubs I can get about 18 on the highway and it's a 4x4 with a dual cab 6 ft bed
