I've had mine now for 12 years with no issues except. The upper windscreen trim is metal and is prone to stone chips and rust. Cover it with clear 3 M to protect it. Skid plates under engine are prone to collecting road debris and rust. Easy to remove to clean and re-paint. Mounting a GPS? Suction onto that blank spot to the left of the steering wheel below the side defroster. Accessory section on the front of the engine developed a minor oil leaK. Manufacturing defect when assembling the engine as the surfaces are too smooth and the silicone gasket eventually squeezes out. Expensive to repair but so far not serious enough. Changing the oil filter? There is a catch basin below the filter with a hole so whatever spills will drain. Add a hose to the underside and feed it down to the plastic cap covering the crankcase drain plug. Clutch operation in the cold is jerky until it warms up (No fix) Love the FJ Hope this helps..

Tom I bought my 07 FJ in August of 06 and I love it. I now have 240,000 km on it and it has been trouble free the whole time. Except for Maintenance I haven't had a single problem with it at all and it has been a very capable vehicle in summer and winter and in the wet or dry conditions. I would recommend it to anyone.

Always good to hear positive feedback on these rigs. My current FJ had a lot of neglected maintenance, needed a torque converter, and needed a rear differential when I bought it...but price reflected condition so I can't complain too much LOL

I hate to say it, but the FJ has been my winter ride for the last few years. I have a couple modified Jeeps that I drive in the summer. That being said, every fall I apply a very heavy coat of Fluid Film to the underside of the FJ, which has significantly slowed the rust. In an ideal world I’d find another car to drive in the winter and keep the FJ off the road too.

I suspect that wording is toyota covering their butt in case someone does something dumb, but thanks for sharing the info. For what it’s worth I’ve been doing this in jeeps for years by manually jumping the safety switch wires together and haven’t had any issues

If you have the Traction control Malfunction Light come on and wont go off then go to the computer plug under the fuse panel,2013 model FJCruiser, you will see two rows of pins inside the plug cavity, count 4 from the left on the top row,and 4 from the left on the bottom row, make up a piece of wire that will fit the small pin sockets and with the ignition turned off ,hand brake on,shift lever in Park, and the vehicle parked on very level ground connect the two pins ive explained above together with the made piece of wire..next, turn on the ignition for 2 seconds and the dash lights concerned will begin to flash rapidly..Turn off the ignition, remove the piece of wire you have inserted .The computer has now been reset and the Traction control Malfunction light should now be off..If it did not work the first time make sure all above is followed, and then hop into the drivers seat and shut the door before turning on the ignition for two seconds as explained above..if it still persists on staying on,may be best to consult your Toyota mechanic/dealer to analyse the problem for you.

They should have continued making this car. It's a very nice car and it won't be a very big or costly project for Toyota since at the end of the day, it's just about designing a new body! Everything else (engine and platform) is mostly a 2-door Prado!
