Those trees were indeed used as ship masts. There is a road called Mast Gully Road in Upwey. Just a small correction. It's a cool temperate rainforest rather than sub tropical. There is nothing sub tropical about Victoria! 🙂

It’s called Burke’s Lookout. Drive up to the end of Eyre Rd & park next to the middle communication tower.
