I have an idea, putting in a Decibel meter for videos like this so we can can have a reference of how loud these amps can go. This may help us with the purchase decisions!

I’d never crank amps to gig volume during a demo, it would be very unsettling in a tiny studio as opposed to a stage 🤣
@flybybaby80082 жыл бұрын
I apologize, but do you not have a volume control on what ever device you are using? I, for one, appreciate the demos showing the capabilities of guitar or amplifier at 10, knowing that I can attenuate the sound. I would be extremely disappointed having bought an instrument or amplifier that fell short of my expectations based upon a video clip at half gain and volume. Thank you Dagan for another great video. Your exuberance is infectious!

I’ve a Katana 100 mk2 and absolutely love it… I played a Fender Twin for 10 years before that and quite honestly, while the Twin was something special, the Katana can get you close… and it’s SO MUCH LIGHTER!!! The quality of all these ‘beginner’ or ‘practice’ amps these days is outstanding and those terms really do them a disservice. When I started playing back in the 90’s, any practice amp sounded just appalling.
@Ray56002 жыл бұрын
Actually Katana 50 has 4 preset slots. There are 2 on bank 1 and 2 on bank 2, you can toggle between banks and between presets using a footswitch. Katana 100 has 8 presets, similar to 50W version 2 banks, and 4 slots on each.

you wont go wrong with the blackstar HT10 if you can stretch to it, valve is the first choice. On a budget the Boss katana, it sounds so good, if professional musicians use them it says a lot, cant say the same about the mustang

My ZT Lunchbox puts out 100wRMS via internal speaker (half the size of the Victory 'with' a speaker inside) and another 100wRMS via external cabinet (handles ANY 8ohm cabinet) ... Total 200wRMS + cabinet... drowning out 100w heads... the small light amp is perfect for travel with a Vox Fx Starstream guitar, or any guitar + a modelling pedalboard (like my Line 6 POD 500X HD)... and it's actually the size of a kids lunchbox!

I’ve got the Marshall MG30FX amp. Got it for free too! (Work bonus) I’m not any big deal as a guitarist but it’s a fun little amp to have fun. I wish the MP3 player input was in stereo (when using headphones) but no biggie. Can’t seem to figure out how to make the built in tuner to work tho….🤷🏽♂️

Also someone should review Heads on competing amps or cabs.. For instance my Cambridge 50 with my KATANA Mkii head sounds ridiculous. I can almost put that head on anything and it sounds pretty good all the time. But no matter what you do to that vox, it just sounds good...

@PMTVUK Great video! I have the Marshall MG30FX - I notice when ever I activate the Effects (from any of the other channels: Crunch, OD1&2) the volume of the amp increases significantly. Is it normal for the volume to increase significantly when engaging the effects? Is there any way to balance the volume out? Thanks!

@Dagan, do you think any of these amps could handle both an electric and an acoustic-electric (specifically a full sized KLOS deluxe hybrid made of carbon fiber body and wood neck) nicely? Some amps made for electric guitars make acoustics sound muddy and gross, but others are pretty decent. It’s tough to get two amps for lack of space and moolah. Do you think any of these models might do, and if so, which ones? I’ve been eying that Fender LT-50, the Katana M-2, and the Marshall. I really like the idea of modeling features as well as knobs on the amp in case I don’t feel like fiddling. Needs to play nice with classic pedals (like Slash Wah, athe classic Boss pedals, etc.) if I want to use them. It helps to be compatible with mobile phones for downloading tones, updating firmware, etc. at all costs, but it’s not a complete deal breaker if it’s PC only. Any thoughts? Feel free to suggest something you didn’t mention here too! Been playing for 1.5 years and have made more progress than I could have dreamed, but I don’t want to outgrow an amp and have to buy something new in a relatively short period. I want something that I can grow into and enjoy for a long time. I have very eclectic tastes in music, so the amp needs to be acoustically well rounded to handle all sorts of genres. Everything - rock, punk, alternative, metal, pop, singer-songwriter, classical, Golden Oldies, etc. Oh, it would help to have something that’s easy to clean and take care of. I’m disabled, have a service dog that sheds like crazy twice a year, and I live near a highway that makes my apartment like a raging dust bowl every single day. I want to spend less time picking dirty crap outta the grills/knobs so I can spend more time jamming! I tend to be leaning toward that Fender you mentioned, but they will some direction would really help! Much appreciated, Dagan - cheers to you! 😇🙏🏻🤘🏻🎸🔊🎶

There is a footswitch to go between the presets (Boss FS6), if you go for the 100w version you can get the Boss GA-FC which is great, plus the 100w has a effects loop where the 50w doesn't.
