I love Spurgeon, & have several of his sermons in real print. I like to relax with a real book at night, plus I can mark in them & make notes.😉 I read Isaiah 59:17 this morning which contains part if the armor, & I'm fairly sure Paul must have been thinking on that verse when the Holy Spirit expanded on it for Ephesians 6: "For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garment of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with Zeal as a cloke." Note there are 2 things here that are not in Ephesians, because Isaiah is referring to Jesus Himself (See vs 16, " his arm brought salvation unto him, literally "yasha" the root word of Yeshua, Jesus name, which is the word used in vs 17, the helmet of salvation - Yeshua. And the Scripture tells us to have the mind of Christ, & put on the helmet of salvation, which is knowing Christ, and having that assurance of salvation made sure in Christ) The Spirit just brought all this together as I typed, t'wasn't me! Thank you LORD that thy Spirit is ALIVE, and the author of eternal life in Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus the Messiah. HalleluYah!
