Thank you for this video. I do have many questions though. How does an older instructor win over a very young group of students, whom rebel for such things as, my race, age? I get the "What can you show me attitudes" with disrespect due to a colleague who has overstepped the boundary of being friends in a teaching facility. All the students are in a trade school to learn state board laws and become barbers. Aged ranging from 18- 40. I am a student teaching instructor. I read in a Milady teaching guide that if you overstep your teacher friendship, students will never allow you back as the teacher again. Perhap​s, this is affecting the new students to whom I am supposed to skillfully train, therefore they stay with the licensed instructor who is more of a friend and younger than me. It is difficult to detour from my being taught in the 70-80's(old school barbering) I love the hands one no machine-ability plus Federal Military working experience. I welcome any and all who has a positive reply as it appears I am the only one who has made a comment. Thank you, My3Son's mom

I am 61 and teach mostly foreign students under 30. The best formula is to really know your stuff and ooze confidence. I honor their experience, encourage their stories and comments and have polished my delivery. So far so good.
