The most respectful way to ask someone to marry you is in private. Spectacles aren't romantic, they're manipulative. They put pressure on people to make a life long decision that should be made in the most logical, non-emotional way. Women should not be put in this position.

i like the hot pot bouquet - at least its useful, and after u give it to the girl, u can eat the hot pot food as congratulation/ celebration kinda food lol
@zsofi_cs95364 жыл бұрын
That's the typical proposal what we are looking for with my best friend lol
@dspirit23 жыл бұрын
And if she says no, you can always throw the bouquet into a hot pot and eat it as a consolation to yourself! You win either way! 🤣

I'm a middle-aged Filipino and this recent "custom" has also appeared here in my country as well and done by the younger set . . but am I just being old- fashioned or backwards to consider that such a practice is more of a Western influence, leading to the decline of simplicity, modesty and even religious values? Don't get me wrong. Yes, culture does change over time but I mean back then such "declaration of love" MIGHT be looked on as pretentious, ostentatious, or even an act to compel the girl to say yes to the proposal (putting her on the spot). It used to be a private promise the couple made between themselves and was only made official when the two families met to arrange the wedding. Again, not trying to be "preachy" but it does leave the older set to notice how Asian values change over time.

I agree, over the top and putting someone on the spot is pretty tacky. I think the important part is truly knowing your partner. If you know they like that sort of thing, or tailoring it to their likes(in an appropriate way!) Then it seems ok to me.

BigDogJang0 I'm making two assumptions here; I take it then that you are OLD enough to have seen CHANGES in the VALUES of people in your country firsthand? (Both for the good as well as the bad?) I'm also assuming that you have experienced more than one culture growing-up?

jackson jiang He said he likes dolphin, and that's why he didn't like the proposal because it mistreats dolphin. I personally don't think simply riding on a dolphin (and the training process) does any harm to it physically nor mentally

Why I never thought of that, omg, hot pot proposal are the best, if she says NO, you can at least ask her to stay and eat the hot pot together and talk it over, now if she says YES, you can still eat the hot pot together and live happily ever after, genius idea, win win situation!
