About all Spector Basses sound synthetic and mechanical. They have a very tinny, buzzy sound. Thats what i hear every time I plug one in or hear one.
@jobelewis64166 жыл бұрын
Ordinary Nocturne I disagree, I think most people aren’t used to hearing a bass with a lot of midrange content. It can be less satisfying to listen to but works great in a mix
@iamalpharius94836 жыл бұрын
@@jobelewis6416 absolutely. I play a Fender Tony Franklin signature Precision fretless and I boost all my mids and drop the bass down to 2 or 3....but Spector have a very tight mid sound off the line. Almost bought one a few years back but went with a Jazz Bass instead.....great mids.

I watched a bunch of videos with different Darkglass pedals and now it seems to me that all pedals are quite versatile, so you can get a suitable tone for any. I still can't decide which one is best for me. Although I lean towards Vintage Ultra or Microtubes X Ultra (because there is also a cool compressor there!)

the point of this style of bass-tone is to fit well within a mix, the bass has barely any character in modern metal mixes as it's purpose to bind the mix together. more often than not, about 50% of what you percieve to be the guitar, is actually the bass. on it's own, metal bass often sounds pretty bad, but in a mixing context, it's absolutely perfect. there's a reason modern metal mixes are so coherent and full-range compared to older productions ;)
