Haven't done a long hike since august. Really been longing for a simple off trail hike like this. Alone in a vast wilderness area. Started out with freezing temps in the night and walked out of the hike in full summer day 6. On day 5 you can literally hear and see how nature comes alive. I love contrasts like that. Its always what I aim for.
3X3 (10'x10') Tarp setup idea was awesome. It's a tent feel about it with the sleeping area that is semi closed and the vestibule on front. Wasn't clear in the video but the top front of the tent opening I attached on a line tied between two trees. Note that this attaching point needs to be higher than the inside tentpole. When the "waist" of the tent is pegged down the inner sleeping section is formed. If you lift the tent up higher this area can be further enclosed. Now what will I call this setup? Suggestions in comments please.
The boil in bag idea also worked. The point with it is you can do this with the 1 dollar cheap freeze dried meals. The 10 dollar vacuum packed freeze dried meals you just pour hot fluid in there and wait 8 min. That don't work good with the cheaper brands that is not made for hiking. But with this method you can get it done with perfect result and no dishes! And all you need is a fire.
My feet are wasted after this one and I need some rest. I put in about 30 km in this video. A lot of people don't know how much that is off trail. It is 3 times harder in comparison to following a trail. You walk and walk, stumble, fall, get wet and if you make a km or two in an hour you are lucky. It is hell part of the time but the places you reach and the scenery is rewarding. I hope you enjoy this hike as much as I did! Thanks for watching!

I'm concerned that these bags will leach bad chemicals into your food. Your method would work equally well with a paper lunchbag.😊

I think these packages are made in such a way that there is aluminum inside. So any plastic there should not come into contact with food. But it's true that it was a bit burnt from the bottom and it's probably not ideal for your lungs...

I like the challenge of survival without food, without water, without shelter, without fire. I started exploring the forest and looking for wild vegetables to eat, building my own shelter in the harsh rainforest. In the evening I went to catch frogs and stayed overnight.... many really wonderful things. I want to learn more from you

I also learn a good deal from Tom at Cimbrer Bushcraft. He is Danish and also does Viking reenactment videos. I began, many years ago, to use vegetable strainers as a firebase. Tom has developed the Arrin fire bowl: A sturdier version that stands higher on tripod legs. Naturally, I had to have one. The panels on every one of my vegetable strainer kits were forever coming loose. Tom's design cures that problem and offers more protection to the ground. I note in your video, that you always can find a suitable rock to serve a similar purpose!

I've always wanted to hike off-trail in Australia, but I cannot afford the cost of a bulldozer and explosives to clear a path through the world's thickest and densest and thorniest bushland... When I went to Sweden late last year to a location very near where Swedwoods and Erik Normark do their videos, it was just amazing to see so many gaps in between the trees that you can just walk through. You can literally walk in any direction you want. This is just not possible in Australia as you will be up against incredibly dense shrubbery and ferns etc...

Fantastic video "once again" thank you for your efforts to entertain us less fortunate folks. Nice to see you float fishing for a change. Perch are much nicer to eat than pike in my opinion. Pike are so boney. I keep your upload until just before bed as I only go out camping now during the week as it's just to busy at the weekends here in the UK. So I go off to sleep with pleasant thoughts and I can almost smell the pine's and woodsmoke and the damp on my face. Thank you very much John Stott

Rest up! Never thought how much more taxing off trail hiking is than on. I appreciate you making these videos. Liked the ‘almost E 🎼. The ‘musical snowshoes’ in your last video was way cool too. Best of all is seeing you out in these beautiful wild places that are a bit too challenging for me. And sharing that you get a little anxious at first, and yes, wolves in hearing distance while sleeping out is scary. But oh how I envy you getting to experience it!

Great time to be in the forest! Nature coming back alive is a wonderous thing to be part of. The clearing you sent the drone above, I'm curious, is it a bog or dry lake bed or...? And I feel your pain in bushwacking. I hunted mushrooms for two decades in wilderness conditions, no trails except what deer made. It IS exhausting! Also, too bad no one makes decent Baked Beans in freeze dried. Drag to carry the can the whole trip, but it does supply its own cooking pot - but then, so did the pasta! Thanks as always my friend, for bringing us along with you as you experience the wild!

Good day Swedwoods! A great adventure, thank yo for taking me along🙏! May I ask you some questions? First I want to know is whether the Every Men's Right is still common or are there any restrictions in some areas? Second thing I want to know is if when you are travelling crosscountry and come to different lakes or creeks, do you need for everything a special license or is there a general license for all fishing? Third question is what fabrication is this awesome fire plate? Thank for you for effort and as always all the best from Austria 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕🔥
