I love the fitted coat in the left image, there is nothing like the classic tailoring in this beautiful example. I haven’t bought a new coat or blazer in a while because I don’t like those enormous oversized styles that are in the shops. I have puffers that can be worn over multi-layers or chunky knits, so I don’t need my wool coats to be oversized. I prefer the elegance of a fitted one, plus they never ho out if style.

I discovered burgundy (as well as gunmetal grey, charcoal, forest green and navy) a few years ago when I imposed a black embargo on my wardrobe. It is a wonderful base colour. I have a gorgeous silk scarf that was a gift, corduroy jeans, pleated satin skirt, a polo neck a pair of ankle boots and a pair of shoes. I will try it with sage green!!

Terrific. I love burgundy, warmer reds don’t suit my cool coloring as well. A burgundy bag and boots are very elegant with most colors, too, especially pale pink, blues and grays. My favorite new outfit this winter is a burgundy slip skirt skirt from Quince and contrast-trim wool burgundy sweater from Simple Retro. I have been looking for years for a pair of leather knee-high boots in burgundy, they look great with all the skirts and dresses I wear.
