Thank you so much I have been looking for this version for ages! All of the other ones sound weak by comparison.

Super cool to hear a different performance of Falcon in the Dive, this song is brimming with rage and passion of pursuit, so it's always fun to hear it sung by different singers!

This is Rex Smith. Terrance Mann recorded the original Broadway and the other Chauvelin songs in this album (excluding Where's the girl). Both amazing singers, simply a matter of preference.

One seems to be more focused on the musicality, the other seems to be more focused on turning some lyrics into spoken dialogue (which certainly increases the drama).

I was never fortunate enough to see Terrance Mann, but I did see Rex Smith, Marc Kudisch, and William Paul Michaels in the role of Chauvelin. Marc was excellent, and I especially loved how much he interacted with the fans! (The last day he was in the show, during the curtain call, he came out with a camera and took a picture of the audience. How wonderful is that?!) But my favorite in the role was William Michaels, after he'd been doing it for a while and really got comfortable with acting it, as his primary background was as a singer - and as a singer, his classic opera training really showed. His voice is amazing!

Rex Smith does a fabulous, demonic performance of Falcon. He was in early years a rock singer, then he got his big chance to go legit in Pirates of Penzance as I think Frederick, the hero. I saw his performance around 1980. He could sing! And now he seems to have replaced Terrence Mann as Chauvelin. It's the first instance I know of of a rock singer who became a legitimate Broadway actor/singer.

I know around this time Sebastian Bach was Jekyll and Hyde.

I like that Rex Smith and Terry Mann have different ways of expressing emotion and rage and passion in this song. Of course I have a preference for one version more than the other, but both have splendid executions

I wish they'd redone the whole album with the new cast (I know they didn't for money issues), because the few songs they did do are great! I also wish I could find a video of the entire show, because it's my favourite musical and I can't find it anywhere! Anyone have any ideas?

The only full English version of the play I’ve found available on KZbin is this highschool performance (questionable quality but the performers did very well for being in high school and I was impressed with their costumes and choreography and it’s amazing to fully be able to watch the entire musical at all): kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3LUqZSYZ9CpmsU I wish I could find the Broadway version to watch myself, if anyone knows, please send my way~

The angry edgy version 🤣 If this was a film, they'd probably cast Russell Crowe to perform this 😅

Okay he sings "where's the girl" well, but this? Not even close.
