I used to be fat, but then in 5th grade, I started to do ab workouts, and run. That was 4 years ago. Now, I am significantly skinnier. I just want to help anyone out who wants to get in shape with 3 tips. 1. Just start with taking a walk. This will not only help with your physical health, but mental. When you can, walk for longer distances, and then try to jog. It will help your heart, and can burn fat easily, atleast for me. 2. Diet. Do not go from eating like 4000 calories diwn to 2000 calories in one week, but slowly stop eating that much, just one bit at a time. I would stop drinking soda. If you drink it a lot, just start by replacing it one meal a day for water. Then slowly keep on getting rid of it until it affects you little. 3. Go to the gym. If you don't have the time, or money, you could just find stuff at home to lift. I would start with ab workouts. It is the best place to start, and one of the most important parts of your body to be fit. Do not expect results in the first week, becuase this will take a long time, but i hope this will help someone on thier walk to being fit.

Matt, I usually don’t step in and disagree with you, but the whole idea of envying or dreaming being skinny is a real thing. Sometimes it a truly a struggle. I’m not plus size like the people in the video but I’m not skinny. It’s just how I’ve been my whole life. I try to workout and be better but it’s a hard habit to break. I live a healthy lifestyle, I don’t snack or over eat, i don’t sit on my ass all day, i do manual labor for a living. I workout to little avail. It’s very much a mental game that if you’ve been playing your whole life is very draining.

All that being said I’ve always been fat phobic even when I was my biggest. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black. I think I did/do it in a way to judge others to make me feel better about myself. Ik it’s wrong but I guess I’m not the only one.

Comment on an old ass video, I agree wholeheartedly it's 100% attainable to be in a skinnier body for literally everyone who is overweight. However, I've been a fat dude like 80% of my life and I will say that even while working to become thinner (I'm 80 pounds down from my heaviest) I still dream of becoming thinner and healthier and envy that life and that perspective. It doesn't mean I'm not working towards it or I'm not acknowledging that it's possible. It's similar to people with little financial wealth dreaming of being wealthy while in the pursuit of that wealth. I'm working towards it, but I still dream about it as a possible future. I do agree that the way the statement at around 13:30 was worded is a little funky, but it's totally plausible to dream and envy something that is perfectly attainable, you just haven't attained it yet. Much love Meags.

I'm 6'1" and 285. I was almost 300 at my peak so I'm about 15 lbs down. You should be what they claim to be fatphobic. I have been destroying my body and health for 4 years and I now at a young age have the foundation for future heart disease. My quality of life has been terrible because of being this big. I run a lot, and yet a 10 minute mile is still really really hard for me because I am carrying so much mass. Breathing gets harder the bigger you are, your heart rate varies much more for no apparent reason, your joints hurt more. I had severe GERD that caused 3 ulcers that I just cleared. I'm one of the people with a hormonal issue too. Everything was blamed on just my choices while I had Hashimoto's disease. My thyroid levels were very low before treatment and I genuinely had a horrible metabolism and was tired all the time etc. and because of this I was also hungry all the time. It is still my fault entirely.
@historyafficionado478 Жыл бұрын
As long as you understand the issue and are working towards fixing it, everything will be fine. One step at a time. Even if it takes decades it still is worth it. Life is already too short for us to be killing ourselves with food. Although I will admit I workout mostly because I love to eat so I can’t afford to stop. Learning to balance the food and exercising is hard, but it is totally worth it.

As someone who was considered the "fat" sibling, "fat" cousin, "fat" friend my whole life until my senior year of high school, I just hope you take away that losing weight is not as easy as a lot of people make it seem. I developed an ED when I lost weight and similarly to Derek I continuously told myself I would be happy and satisfied when I got to 150 pounds, then it was 140 pounds, then it was 130, and etc. However, losing weight did not make me feel any less insecure or better about myself compared to when I was fat. In fact, it probably made me even more insecure. The only difference was how people treated me, I then would hear remarks like "could you believe you were once that big" or "you look so much better now", which gave me an understanding I looked better skinny in terms of how others seen me but not necessarily how I seen myself. Even now, being 4 years since I officially been deemed "skinny", I still struggle with body issues and insecurities regarding my body. I just think as someone who was once big, not only you but others as well need to have some type of empathy for those who are overweight because there are MANY factors that play a part in losing weight. It takes nothing to be kind to others
