✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist✅
www.BuilderBrigade .com/Social
6 home building framing tips a homeowner should ask their builder about:
1. Under Stair Storage - Use every square inch of usable space. The space under the stairs can sometimes be closed off by the builder unless the homeowner specifically asks for access.
2. Blocking - Framing blocking is just a piece of scrap wood installed on the studs to provide a larger mounting surface for TVs, towel bars, curtains, or anything that would require drywall anchors.
3. In-wall Conduit- Sometimes referred to as smurf tubing, this allows the homeowner to run wiring to specific location throughout the home for the life of the home.
4. Mini network room - This is the location that will contain your cameras or audio and video equipment. Since you have conduit run to this location you can connect cabling into this centralized hub inside the home.
5. Tub protection - Protecting the tub is often overlooked until it’s already filled with construction material and often times already damaged. Ask for foam and plywood over the tub to reduce the changes of damage during construction.
6. Interior Insulation - Ask for interior insulation for noise damping in the home. Rockwool makes a popular product that reduces the noise coming from other rooms.

The network room needs an air duct. That stuff gets hot. Good ideas though. Very good ideas.

It's fine unless you have server racks in it😂. A network hub alone isn't going to put off a lot of heat.

Would be totally fine. A switch doesn't throw off much heat.

Naw that's not enough hardware for a duct. Once you get to a large rack or 2 then you need an air cooling system.

If you have access to to your house when it's being framed - before it is insulated - Go in with a camera and take pictures of EVERYTHING! For blocking - take measurements on ALL of it. Any time you have to do something in the future this will come in so handy.

Nice couple of suggestions. The advise though, is to come up with a complete "Backing List" to cover all the areas to provide backing, curtain rods, stair railing, etc.

Throughout Asia, they use the space under the stairs as a bathroom. They install a toilet in there for guests because usually there isn't a full size bathroom on the ground floor.

1. NEVER EVER put chemcials under stairs. One day you may need to use those stairs to escape, you do not want to find out how flammable those chemicals are or just how toxic a gas they make. All chemicals go outside of the home, and not even in an attached garage. 2. Electronics placed above fire place openings are being baked at every use of the fireplace. Not only will this eventually lead to the TV not working, it forces out gassing of the TV's plastics and you don't want to breathe that long term. Finally if you have a flare from the fire place, that TV plastic casement is flammable.

Why aren't you also looking for properly installed insulation? The paper faces of the insulation are supposed to overlap so the tar faces overlap in front of the studs/joists/etc. I used to sell insulation, and that information comes straight from Johns Manville on the proper installation of their product. If you don't your house has no vapor barrier.
@Gunsnhosescarpentry
@Gunsnhosescarpentry 11 ай бұрын
One thing to never do is cheap out on insulation. Very expensive to redo later. You can repaint your walls, new kitchen, new flooring but trying to redo insulation means ripping your whole house apart. Closed cell spay foam is the best. This crappy r13 glass wouldn’t pass in Michigan. I don’t know where this is.
