I moved to Killeen in January 2000 for affordability. My parents retired here from the military in 1997. After my husband left the military living in Georgia, married with 2 toddlers in daycare, paying rent,and car payments life was too expensive. We couldn’t afford to live off a police officer and sales manager salaries in the late 1990’s. So we had two choices Florida or Texas. My 2 children are now grown women and Texas is home to them.❤ Coming from a military background as a child and spouse. I appreciate the nearby base that contributes to tho city’s diversity.❤

I haven't experienced anything like that. Like any city, there can be more troubling areas. It's all about where you live. Killeen and the surrounding cities have plenty of beautiful neighborhoods that don't have those concerns.

Dad was stationed there for 9 years Army. I was a kid and went to Pershing park elementary 😂 siblings went to Killeen high school kangaroos 😂😂that was a long time ago. They were just building Ellison high school. We got stationed to Hawaii after that then San Antonio where he retired. Haven’t been back since, I live in Dallas now.

Hello, I'm looking for a warmer place to retire. I currently live in Troutdale Oregon, right on the opening to the Columbia gorge. Very windy and cold in the winter. Really love Motorcycle riding and would like a more moderate climate year round to safely ride.

I’ve been whaling to move to Killeen for a while but All of the schools in this area that I’ve seen are not the best at all, well high schools..
