I used to have to take the downtown Tacoma exit everyday to get to work and traffic was always crazy. I do not envy anyone who has to take I-5 N or S bound through that section of road in Tacoma. It’s unfortunate that even though the highway has been under constant construction for almost a decade now, the exiting and merging traffic are just as confusing and (IMO) more dangerous now then it was when they started. My sympathies to the all the families involved and especially to the family who lost a loved one today.
@oceanwaves31392 жыл бұрын
my prayers are with the families involved; touched by the trooper's emotions during the interview (very sincere and extremely appropriate). My new office requires me to take the Tacoma Mall exit and to come out from the same exit where the crash happened to go home. Seeing how people drive around that area is enough to make me tensed up; they just weave in and out and cut in front of people to get to HWY16 or to go to the farther left to be on N-5; when it rain w/ poor visibility is even scarier. After working from home for over two years, I don't have the stomach for this; so this is a small factor which i took into consideration when i decided to retire in a couple of months.

Think about this folks. It’s so easy to get pissed off when someone is driving recklessly. Don’t give into ‘road rage’ mentality. Change lanes safely, breathe, and watch your following distance. I had a cousin that died after a car accident that required her to be removed from her mangled car with the ‘jaws of life’ tool. The trauma involved from the oncoming truck, made her car and herself, unrecognizable in the hospital bed where she lay hooked up to every machine to keep her alive. Life is precious and a split second choice or reaction can change lives forever. So taking your eyes off the road to grab for your snack after it slips off the dashboard and makes you lose control and slam into a car driven by a then 27 year old teacher, that was my cousin, is one of those split second choices made by one or all of the drivers in this mess today. Be safe out there.☮️❤️

I'm not saying this applies to everyone, but I really do think that half (if not more than half) of the bad drivers out on the roadways are driving whilst high. No joke. I've literally seen people smoke from pipes and bongs before while speeding down the interstate and it's terrifying. Not only are their hands not free to steer, but they're also now under the influence and their thinking is more than likely impaired at the time. Don't get me wrong, I smoke weed too and so do most of my friends after work. But none of us attempt to drive anywhere afterwards. That's just reckless. Again, not saying this applies to everyone, but it's no doubt a fairly common thing in states where it's legal.
@thomasmartin78162 жыл бұрын
The trooper doesn't want to say the truth. 1. There is absolutely nothing you can do when a trucker is doing a DUI and doesn't care who he harms. 2. There is NO justice. I use to work in a prison and they laugh about it. One drunk driver who killed MANY people said that once he did his short time, he didn't owe anyone anything, the system showed the lives of others weren't worth much because of the time he served, and he was more important because he'd get out still young. This trucker will get a slap on the wrist. Families destroyed because one person wants it drive and use alcohol and or drugs and drive. He won't do serious time, and he'll be back on the road with his second chance to get more people.

At some point he may drive a motor vehicle again, but it won't be a commercial vehicle. DUI is nothing short of murder, with premeditation if someone loses their life! Driving is not a right, it's a privilege. No person convicted of DUI should ever be able to operate any motor vehicle again.

This is something that I feel very passionately about. Everyone is outraged when an impaired driver causes a horrific accident but those very same people will get behind the wheel of their two ton (or more) vehicle and drive aggressively. They'll speed, tailgate, weave in and out of traffic, rage drive, talk on the phone or text, etc. Somehow not knowing that this type of driving kills more people than any other type. And it not only kills people, it causes catastrophic and life-altering injuries. Because of the way you drive, you can change someone's life in the blink of an eye.

As a driver of tractor trailers for over 28 years now, I can tell you this is what happens when you tailgate a semi and cannot stop in time. I’m about 99% certain that the mangled car with Oregon plates under the semi trailer was the fatality. Keep a safe distance from semis. If you rear end one, this is what happens. If one rear ends you, you can easily be squished like a pancake. Neither scenario is good. It’s not worth it to make aggressive moves around trucks just because you can’t stand to be behind one for a few minutes. Please give us room, all that we really want is a safe clear distance in front of us so that we can stop if we need to. A loaded truck can weigh up to 80,000 lbs. at max gross weight. Oversized permit loads can weigh even more. The heaviest SUV’s weigh about 5-6000 lbs. Who do you think is going to win this war of physics? Prayers to all of those affected by this accident.

Tacoma roads are the worst. How long have they been doing constructions? It feels like 20 years and they still didn't finish it.

Cell phones the cause of 90%of accidents im driving on streets and freeway everyday and saw people always on the phone texting or face time talking,specially truck drivers and regular drivers too ,some people texting and driving slow on express lines stopping the traffic. It would be hard to stop that, but the solution is revoque drivers license for life on people using cell phones.
